Frazier: Peterson Could Be Ready For Opener

Jul 15, 2014 10:05 AM

There is a "very good chance" Adrian Peterson will be on the field for the Vikings in Week 1 of the season. "I don't know if we'll put him on the practice field anytime soon when we get to Mankato," Frazier told Judd Zulgad on ESPN Radio. "But everything indicates there's a very good chance he may be ready for that Jacksonville game (the season opener.) We're still far enough out that you really can't say that right now." Peterson is unlikely to practice to start camp -- which could briefly put him on the physically unable to perform -- but that's a procedural move true of a lot of rehabbing players.

Favre Doesn't Care About Bounty Scheme

Sep 24, 2014 5:19 PM

Brett Favre hasn't given much thought to being targeted as quarterback of the Vikings in the 2010 NFC Championship Game against New Orleans. "People ask me about it at home, because everyone back home was Saints fans," Favre told Deion Sanders of The NFL Network. "I grew up a Saints fan, an hour from the Superdome. "My feeling, and I mean this wholeheartedly, is that I really don't care. What bothers me is we didn't win the game. And they didn't take me out of the game. They came close, but a lot of people have come close. I'm too stubborn to come out. Plus, that was kind of a big game. I'm not going to sit the last three minutes. I'm going to go out there with bones sticking out of the skin, I'm going to finish it."

Harvin's Trade Request Goes Beyond Contract

Jul 16, 2014 5:25 PM

Percy Harvin seeks a trade from the Vikings, but his contract isn't the only reason for that desire. Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports a desire to replace a rookie deal that covers the next two seasons is not the "sole driving force" behind the wide receiver's request for a new address. Harvin may want more opportunities. Last year, the Vikings faced criticism for not using him enough. Still, he generated 967 yards receiving, 345 yards rushing, and 520 yards on kickoff returns.

Peterson Doesn't Want To See Vikings Lose Harvin

Jul 28, 2014 2:34 PM

Adrian Peterson isn't happy to hear that Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin has requested a trade. "Whatever the issue is, I'm sure they'll get things squared away," said Peterson, who often trains with Harvin. The All-Pro running back doesn't think the rift between Harvin and the organization is distracting. "Distracting? I wouldn't say distracting," Peterson said. "It's more bothering. We definitely don't want to lose this guy. He put the emphasis on that by saying that. ... I'm sure the organization will do what they have to do to keep this guy around. If it was me, I'd make sure we kept him around."

Jerome Simpson Suspended Three Games

Oct 31, 2014 7:41 AM

The NFL has suspended Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson for the first three games of the 2012 season. The suspension was a result of a felony drug conviction tied to a marijuana shipment to his home last fall. Simpson was suspended for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He was also fined one game check, meaning he must forfeit nearly one-fourth of his $800,000 salary.
