Vikings Optimistic About Favre's Surgery

Nov 15, 2014 5:10 AM

The Vikings aren't surprised that quarterback Brett Favre has undergone ankle surgery. Favre confirmed the procedure last Friday on his website. "I think that's some promising news," tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said. "Why'd he get ankle surgery? That's the first thing that came through my mind. Seems like he got it for the season, because that's what he needed to come back to the Vikings. But whatever's best for him and his family and for his old body -- old, old, old body, I stress that. He has to make a decision that's good for him." Favre has yet to make a decision on the 2010 season.

Judge Rules For NFL In StarCaps Case

Jul 17, 2014 10:50 PM

A Minnesota judge has sided with the NFL in a lawsuit by Minnesota Vikings Kevin Williams and Pat Williams challenging their four-game suspensions for violating the NFL's anti-doping policy. The NFL first attempted to suspend the defensive tackles in December 2008 after they tested positive for a banned diuretic that was in the StarCaps weight-loss supplement they were taking. The players argued that the NFL broke state labor law when it applied its drug policy. The decision doesn't necessarily clear the way for the NFL to suspend the players. The judge will hold a hearing Thursday afternoon on whether to grant a temporary injunction pending an appeal.

Vikings Stadium Bill Suffers Setbacks

Jun 9, 2014 11:01 PM

A legislative proposal to build a new stadium for the Vikings is on shaky ground. The team is seeking a $791 million new stadium to get out of the aging Metrodome. A committee in the Minnesota House voted against the plan and a Senate committee overhauled the bill Wednesday before approving it. The new version would still rely on the team for a third of the cost while raising an unspecified amount by selling permanent seats.
