Peterson's Dad Wants Defenders Out Of Box
The father of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is in favor of the team getting a better quarterback if it will lessen the pressure on his son.
"Anybody who can keep nine guys out of the box would be greatly appreciated," Nelson Peterson said. "I don't care if it's Tarvaris (Jackson), Sage (Rosenfels), Brett Favre or anybody else."
Peterson Open To Favre Signing
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is open to the possibility of the team signing Brett Favre.
"You're talking about a Hall of Fame quarterback, a guy that I grew up watching. I love just the passion he played with," Peterson said. "If he is a part of our team when the season comes around, when training camp comes around, we're going to welcome him with open arms and see where the chips fall."
Peterson said he'll tell coach Brad Childress what he thinks, but he isn't going to get himself tangled up in deciding whether to pursue Favre.
"I know our coach is going to do his job, and at the end of the day his job is having the best team possible to win games," Peterson said. "That's his job, so I'm going to let him handle his job and I'm going to do my job."
Another Denial From Favre's Agent
Agent Bus Cook has denied yet another report that Brett Favre has already signed with the Vikings.
After denying a report on ProFootballTalk.com earlier this week, Cook shot down a similar report by WCCO-TV.

Vikings May Have Already Signed Favre
A credible source wouldn't deny a rumor that the Vikings have already signed Brett Favre.
Pro Football Talk reported the story on Sunday afternoon, claiming that Minnesota and the quarterback are simply waiting to announce the news.
PFT got wind of the rumor and went to a source "that would know the truth" in order to investigate.
"I will not deny it either, I will leave it at that," the source told Pro Football Talk.
If true, it's possible that Favre may have signed a deal with the Vikings, but that the contract hasn't been submitted to the NFL yet.
Childress: Favre Is 'Pain-Free'
Vikings head coach Brad Childress proclaimed on Friday that Brett Favre is "pain-free right now."
"My understanding is that he is pain-free right now," Childress said during an interview with KFAN-AM 1130. "Does he have the endurance and the stamina in that arm yet? He doesn't know that yet. It's no different than grabbing a golf club for the first time during the year when you rip around 18 holes, and you wake up the next day and your side hurts. You say, 'Geez, I haven't felt that muscle in a while.' So he's got to build some endurance in that and see if he thinks he can get it back to where he wants to get it."
Childress added that it is not a foregone conclusion that Favre will sign and play for the Vikings this season.
Vikings Owner: Future Is In Favre's Hands
Vikings owner Zygi Wilf says that Brett Favre's future is in the quarterback's hands.
"Right now, it's all up to Brett Favre in terms of where his future is at," Wilf told fans gathered at a "State of the Vikings" event. "I'll just leave it at that."
