Frerotte Isn't Surprised By Release

Sep 18, 2014 12:43 PM

Veteran quarterback Gus Frerotte was unfazed on Friday after Vikings coach Brad Childress informed him that the team was releasing him. Minnesota recently acquired quarterback Sage Rosenfels. "There's really nothing that is going to happen to me in the realm of the business side of the NFL that's going to affect me," said Frerotte. "I've been through almost every situation. I've been cut, I've been let go. Everything you could imagine has happened to me. It is what it is, and you have to move on. There are more important things in life, like my family."

Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh listed the Seahawks, Vikings, Giants and Eagles among the teams he told his agent to approach in free agency. "I'm looking at teams I think have good coaches and good offensive lines and good running games," said Houshmandzadeh on ESPN's NFL Live. "I have no idea if those teams are interested in me. "If I can play with Adrian Peterson, can you imagine what I would do getting one-on-one coverage with Adrian Peterson? I am going to win 98.6 percent of the time with one-on-one coverage with him in the backfield."

Frerotte Still Wants To Start For Vikings

Jul 29, 2014 4:44 AM

Quarterback Gus Frerotte is under contract with the Vikings for the 2009 season, but doesn't seem interested in returning as a reserve. "A lot of people say, 'Why wouldn't you want to go back there and, if you're not starting, just stand there and watch?' but it's not about that for me," Frerotte told Sid Hartman of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "I played a lot with those guys, so I can still play ... "I was only in the offense for six months, so I should get a lot better with another year under my belt," he said. "I think I've earned the right to be a starter. It wasn't handed to me. I went in and played well and gave everything I had to the team."
