Patrick Mahomes Offered Free Ketchup If He Breaks TD Mark

Nov 16, 2018 9:47 AM

Patrick Mahomes has been offered a lifetime supply of Heinz Ketchup if he breaks the single-season record with 57 touchdown passes this season.

Heinz Ketchup, which has used "57 varieties" in its advertising, tweeted the promise to Mahomes on Thursday after the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback told a reporter of his love for the condiment.

Mahomes has 31 touchdown passes this season. Peyton Manning holds the all-time mark with 55 during the 2013 season.

"I'm not opposed to it," Mahomes said, when asked if he'd want ketchup for life. "If it happens and I get ketchup for life, I'll be sure to share it with some of the offensive linemen."

Rams Allot Thousands Of MNF Tickets For First Responders

Nov 14, 2018 8:36 AM

Thousands of tickets for Monday night's Kansas City Chiefs-Los Angeles Rams game have been allotted to Los Angeles-area first responders.

The game, originally scheduled to be played at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, will now be played at the L.A. Coliseum because Azteca's playing surface did not meet NFL standards.

The Rams said they will be "providing thousands of complimentary tickets to first responders who are bravely protecting the greater Los Angeles community, as well as people who have been impacted by our community's recent tragedies."

Over the past seven days, the Los Angeles metropolitan area has been ravaged by the Woolsey fire and devastated by a mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, near where the Rams' facility is located.

Stepfather Of Patrick Mahomes' Girlfriend Dies At Game

Nov 13, 2018 8:58 AM

Patrick Mahomes skipped his postgame news conference on Sunday after his girlfriend's stepfather died while at the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals at Arrowhead Stadium.

"We're sorry to hear about what took place yesterday," Andy Reid said. "Our prayers and blessings are with the family. I've talked to Patrick and they're doing well for the circumstance that took place."

The Chiefs don't expect the tragedy to affect Mahomes' preparation for Week 11, noting that the quarterback was at the team facility Monday.

Mahomes isn't expected to miss any playing time either, though Reid said, "If he has to, that's not a big deal."

Baker Mayfield: Browns Should Have Taken Patrick Mahomes First Overall

Nov 1, 2018 12:20 PM

Ten teams passed on Patrick Mahomes, who is the early front-runner for MVP, in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Baker Mayfield believes the Cleveland Browns, who used the No. 1 overall pick on Myles Garrett, should have taken Mahomes.

"Talent wise, I thought he should have been -- I love Myles but ...," he said. "Coming from the Texas Tech system, there are always your skeptics, people doubting the fact that all he did was sit back there and throw the ball. He threw it 88 times in our game (a 66-59 Oklahoma victory over Texas Tech), but when it comes down to it, throwing the ball is throwing the ball, and he's really good at it."
