Chiefs Aren't Concerned About Overworking Kareem Hunt

Sep 26, 2017 2:37 PM

Kareem Hunt is on pace for 299 touches, but the Kansas City Chiefs aren't concerned about overworking the rookie running back.

Jamaal Charles accumulated 329 touches in 2013.

Andy Reid said "we're OK with how we're using him" and said he'd be hearing the opposite question if he dialed back.

"I've seen enough make it through and I've seen some that hit a wall," Reid said. "If I didn't then you'd ask me if I needed to give him the ball more. I went through that with Jamaal, at first it was too much, then not enough, it goes back and forth. I just go off of the feel I have and the experience, we'll be all right there."

Alex Smith Expects To Leave Chiefs In 2018

Sep 14, 2017 3:06 PM

Alex Smith spoke candidly about his future with the Kansas City Chiefs with the franchise using the 10th overall pick last year to select Patrick Mahomes.

“For sure,” Smith said when asked if he felt like 2017 would be his last in Kansas City. “It absolutely does. Without a doubt.”

Smith's contract runs through the 2018 season.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow,” Smith said. “It’s like, man, [we] could’ve added this or this or this position or this player.”

Smith was traded to the Chiefs in 2013 after he lost his job to Colin Kaepernick.

Eric Berry Out for 2017 With Ruptured Achilles

Sep 8, 2017 4:24 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs have lost Eric Berry for the remainder of the 2017 season with a ruptured left Achilles.

Berry suffered the injury in the second half of Week 1 while defending Rob Gronkowski.

"You're not going to replace Eric Berry with another Eric Berry. That's not what happens," said Andy Reid. "But the guys know that Eric would be disappointed if they left off the accelerator at all. I think we'll be OK there."

2017 NFL Kickoff Game Ratings Down From 2016

Sep 8, 2017 11:09 AM

Ratings for the 2017 NFL Kickoff Game were down by nearly two full points from 2016 and more than three points from 2015 when Tom Brady's suspension was temporarily lifted.

2017: Chiefs/Pats: 14.6
2016: Panthers/Broncos: 16.5
2015: Steelers/Pats: 17.7
2014: Packers/Seahawks: 16.8

During the early part of the 2016 season, ratings were down across the board, which led some to speculate that the presidential election or political protests by players contributed to the slide.
