Jamaal Charles Remains Part Of Chiefs' Plans

Feb 26, 2016 12:22 PM

Jamaal Charles suffered an ACL tear in Week 5 and the Kansas City Chiefs went on an 11-2 run without him.

Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware were productive at running back for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs could have saved $5.3 million, with no dead money, by cutting Charles.

With more than $30 million in cap space, however, the Chiefs have no real reason to cut Charles.

"He will be an important piece of this team moving forward," John Dorsey said.

Chiefs, Eagles, Broncos Considered Top Spots For Robert Griffin

Feb 24, 2016 8:55 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are considered the top potential landing spots for Robert Griffin III.

Washington will release Griffin before March 9th.

"I'll give you two big options right off the top," Ian Rapoport said on NFL Network. "The Kansas City Chiefs, who have Andy Reid, who has propped up quarterbacks for years. (Griffin) can learn to throw from the pocket under that system. Another potential name: the Philadelphia Eagles with one of Reid's disciples, Doug Pederson. They're looking for some quarterback depth there, especially if they don't re-sign Sam Bradford."

The Denver Broncos are also an option for Griffin if they're unable to re-sign Brock Osweiler.

Marcus Peters Named Defensive Rookie Of The Year

Feb 6, 2016 9:10 PM

Marcus Peters of the Kansas City Chiefs has been named the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Peters emerged as a lockdown cornerback for the Chiefs.

Peters received 45 votes compared to four for Ronald Darby of the Buffalo Bills.

"He tied for first in the league in interceptions and led in pass breakups. I thought he had the physical capabilities to be one of the better corners in the league coming out of the draft, and he was just that," NFL Media analyst Willie McGinest said this week. "He's aggressive, plays the ball like a receiver and has a great skill set."
