Alex Smith and Spencer Ware left the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 8 game against the Colts due to concussions.

Smith left the game in the first quarter to be checked for a possible concussion. He returned later in the half after being cleared. Smith eventually left for good when pushed to the turf in the third quarter at the end of a scramble.

Ware played the first half but didn't return to the game after that. 

Jamaal Charles has been ruled out for Week 8 due to soreness in both of his knee.

Charles played in only two snaps last Sunday and has just 40 yards of 12 carries this season.

Coming off last year's ACL tear, Charles has been eclipsed on the field by workhorse Spencer Ware, whose 129.5 scrimmage yards per game this season rank fourth in NFL.

Ware has 35.9 percent of Kansas City's total yards in 2016.

The Green Bay Packers have acquired Knile Davis from the Kansas City Chiefs for a conditional late-round draft pick.

Green Bay was in need of backfield depth.

James Starks is out four weeks after undergoing knee surgery and Eddie Lacy is dealing with a nagging ankle injury.
