Berry: Playing Every Down Takes Its Toll

May 17, 2014 7:57 AM

Chiefs rookie Eric Berry played every one of the team's 1,065 defensive snaps last season. He was also a part of roughly half of their 468 special teams plays. "If we had another game, I would have made it and I would have been ready," Berry said. "But I have to tell you this: When the season was over, I didn’t do anything for about a month. I didn't go out or do anything. I was supposed to go home (to Georgia) and I didn't even book my flight. I just stayed in the house, watched TV. I just sat around the house. I wasn't used to playing that many games. My body was just through afterwards." Berry found the energy to make it to Hawaii and participate in the Pro Bowl three weeks after the Chiefs were knocked out of the playoffs with their loss to Baltimore. Otherwise, he said he didn't begin working out until sometime in March.
