Former Chiefs running back Ed Podolak is recovering after he was hit by a car while crossing a street in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Police say the Podolak, 63, was not inside a crosswalk when he was hit Sunday. They say the driver of the car that hit Podolak tried to brake but couldn't stop fast enough.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

NFL Penalizes Lions For Tampering With Chiefs
The NFL says the Lions have violated the league's policy against tampering and ruled they must forfeit their upcoming seventh-round draft pick and exchange fifth-round picks with the Chiefs.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell issued the ruling Friday for violations last year involving players under contract with Kansas City.
The fifth-round switch leaves Detroit with the 23rd pick in the round instead of the ninth.
Chiefs Franchise Tamba Hali
The Chiefs have placed the "non-exclusive" franchise tag on linebacker Tamba Hali, according to a league source.
The non-exclusive tag will allow Kansas City to match any offer Hali received in free agency or receive two first-round picks if they chose not to match.
Hali burst into stardom in his fifth year by leading the AFC with 14? sacks.
Chiefs Hire Zorn As Quarterbacks Coach
The Chiefs have hired Jim Zorn to coach their quarterbacks.
"We are excited to finalize our coaching staff today with the addition of Jim Zorn," coach Todd Haley said.
"As a former head coach with more than two decades of experience playing and coaching the quarterback position in the NFL, Jim has a tremendous working knowledge of the game, and he will play a big role in the continued development of our football team."
Zorn, 57, was released as Baltimore's quarterbacks coach on Jan. 27.
Wiegmann May Opt For Retirement
There is a 50-50 chance that Chiefs center Casey Wiegmann will retire, according to a source close to the situation.
Wiegmann expects to inform Kansas City of his plans before April's NFL Draft.
He will turn 38 in July.
Bill Muir To Become Kansas City's OC
The Chiefs will name offensive line coach Bill Muir as their offensive coordinator.
Muir arrived in Kansas City two years ago after seven seasons as Tampa Bay?s offensive coordinator/offensive line coach.
"We are very fortunate to have someone of Bill's caliber take over the role of offensive coordinator,? Haley said. ?Bill?s depth of experience, his championship success as a coach and as a coordinator is widely respected around the league, and he will serve our young and veteran players very well and provide critical continuity as we continue to develop on offense.?
