Bowe Claims He Was Misquoted By ESPN The Magazine

Jul 31, 2014 11:26 PM

Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe says he was misquoted in an interview with ESPN The Magazine. He was quoted in the May 21 issue describing a practice in 2007 of veteran Chiefs players flying in women to be with the players during a trip to San Diego. "I'm going to say it one time and one time only: I apologize to the organization, the team, those guys who I put in a bind. My words was misunderstood and baseless and were said without malice," Bowe said. "Definitely it was misquoted," he added.

Chiefs Mum On Bowe's 'Importing' Comments

Sep 19, 2014 11:56 PM

The Chiefs are in lockdown mode after wide receiver Dwayne Bowe caused a distraction by describing how his teammates arranged to have women meet them at a hotel during his rookie season. Kansas City coach Todd Haley called it an "internal matter" and players throughout the locker room repeated "no comment" at every turn. Bowe caused a stir last week when he told ESPN the Magazine about a 2007 road trip to San Diego when teammates "imported" women they found on social networking sites. "You hear stories about groupies hanging out in hotel lobbies, but some of my teammates had it set up so there was a girl in every room. The older guys get on MySpace and Facebook a week before we go to a city; when a pretty one writes back, they arrange to fly her in three or four days in advance," Bowe told ESPN the Magazine. "They call it importing. Younger guys don't have the money to do it. Anyway, these girls had the whole top floor. They know everything about us -- first and last names, sisters and brothers, salary. This one girl was talking to me like she'd known me for years. 'Hey, D-Bowe, how's Grandma?' I'm like, 'How do you know my grandma?' She knew that I talk about her every time I'm interviewed for a story. I told her I had a girlfriend, but she didn't care. She was wearing my jersey, sitting in my lap, making it look like we knew each other. Then she took a picture and put it on Facebook. That almost got me in trouble."

Chiefs Not Interested In Adalius Thomas

Jul 31, 2014 11:24 PM

The Chiefs don't appear to be interested in free-agent linebacker Adalius Thomas. Arrowhead Pride reports that Kansas City has been linked to Thomas, despite a report to the contrary. It's possible that the link between Chiefs GM Scott Pioli and the former Patriots linebacker may be the root of the speculation.
