Former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis, now the offensive coordinator for the Chiefs, said he thought there was a chance he might fill the same role with the Bears before he joined Todd Haley in Kansas City.

Haley On Weis: Notre Dame Didn't Shatter Confidence
With Charlie Weis' days in Notre Dame over and a new chapter beginning in Kansas City, Todd Haley doesn't believe his new offensive coordinator has lost any of his old confidence.
?I think that Charlie overall is no different than Matt (Cassel),? Haley compared. ?He looked adversity in the face here over the last few years and Charlie is real tough mentally. He?s not going to be affected too much by that. His confidence is still there exactly the way that I remember it. He is excited to be a part of the Kansas City Chiefs.
?I think he just wants to be a part of something special,? Haley continued. ?I think that with Charlie in the mix and what we?re going to get done here in the offseason?this team was getting better and was going to get better if we stayed status-quo, but we made some real positive additions. We?re going to add players to the mix and with the nucleus that we?ve found of players through this difficult year we?ll have a chance to show marked improvement.?
Source: Crennel Close To Joining Chiefs
The Chiefs are getting close to adding Romeo Crennel as their defensive coordinator.
The former Browns coach has spoken to the Giants about their vacant position, but Crennel is giving Kansas City the first shot at hiring him.
A source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Bill Williamson that Crennel could get a deal done in the next couple of days if there is isn't a major breakdown.
Chiefs Hire Weis As O-Coordinator
Barely a month after getting fired at Notre Dame, Charlie Weis signed on Friday as offensive coordinator with the Chiefs, according to an Associated Press report.
Weis To Become New OC For Kansas City
The Chiefs likely will hire former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis as their new offensive coordinator as soon as Thursday.
Head coach Todd Haley said on Wednesday that he had only spoken to Weis about the opening.
There may not be a better fit as Haley?s next offensive coordinator than Weis. The two worked together years ago as assistant coaches with the New York Jets.
More importantly, Weis? offense is almost an exact copy of Haley?s.
Weis Could Join Kansas City
A league source says that Charlie Weis might soon become the next offensive coordinator of the Chiefs.
There has been speculation that the former Notre Dame coach could join the Bears in the same capacity.
Weis has spoken with the Chiefs multiple times since being fired Nov. 30 by the Irish.
"I would expect a decision in the next couple of days," the source said.
Jamaal Charles Asked Haley To Pull Him
Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in Week 17, but pulled himself with a chance to set an NFL record.
Charles rushed for a team-record 259 yards as Kansas City defeated Denver 44-24 on Sunday afternoon.
He could have entered the game for more yardage late in the rout, but Charles told Chiefs coach Todd Haley to pull him even though he was within striking distance of Adrian Peterson's all-time NFL record (296 yards).
"I didn't want to do it like that," said Charles. "I'll get it some other time."
Chiefs Likely To Hire Crennel As D-Coordinator
The Chiefs are expected to hire Romeo Crennel as their next defensive coordinator, according to multiple league sources.
Kansas City wanted to hire the former Cleveland head coach as its defensive coordinator last offseason, but hip surgery kept him from taking the job.
Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli worked with Crennel in New England.
