Chiefs Trade Gonzalez To Falcons

Oct 31, 2014 3:47 PM

The Chiefs have traded tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Falcons for a second-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Gonzalez had reportedly asked Kansas City for a trade back in March, and had been selected to 10 Pro Bowls as a member of the team. "On behalf of my family and the Chiefs, I want to thank Tony for his time in Kansas City," Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement. "Over the last 12 seasons, Tony has been one of the finest players in Chiefs history, and he will always be remembered as a member of the Chiefs. His play on the field speaks for itself -- he holds almost every major NFL record for tight ends, and he is arguably the best to ever play his position. We wish him the best in Atlanta." Haley: Chiefs Are 'Starting At Ground Zero'

Aug 6, 2014 3:46 PM

Chiefs head coach Todd Haley had his players go through their first on-field workouts without names on the back of jerseys or logos on their helmets, according to the Associated Press. "Everything I'm doing I'm trying to do with a purpose," Haley said Sunday. "The thought process there is we're starting at ground zero. We're looking for guys who want to be Chiefs." Rain forced some of the workouts inside this weekend, but Haley still feels as though progress was made. "It was good to just get back on the field. We'd been out here working hard and lifting and conditioning," he said. "We've been doing what we can. But it's nothing like being out there in the real situation and going fast."

Agent: Johnson Will Take Part In Chiefs Minicamp

Sep 30, 2014 10:06 PM

Chiefs running back Larry Johnson will take part in the team's voluntary minicamp, from Friday to Sunday, according to agent Peter Schaffer. Schaffer also said that Johnson has been participating in the team's offseason workout program, which began March 30. Johnson, who initially asked to be traded, has changed his mind and is reportedly excited about the upcoming season. Schaffer also believes that Kansas City wants to keep L.J. "If it was a foregone conclusion that the Chiefs would cut Larry I don't think he'd be going to the minicamp," Schaffer said. "We're planning on moving on. That's why Larry is with the team."

L.J. Doesn't Want Release From Chiefs

Aug 7, 2014 3:07 AM

According to Larry Johnson's agent, the running back still very much wants to play for the Chiefs this coming season. "He's excited about the direction the team is going in," agent Peter Schaffer said. "What happened today has no bearing on Larry's desire to play for the Chiefs. 'Larry Johnson's entire focus is to prepare for the 2009 season. He's a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and wants to help them win a Super Bowl. He didn't even attend the hearing last week."
