The Patriots have agreed to trade quarterback Matt Cassel to the Chiefs.
Cassel will join former New England linebacker Mike Vrabel in Kansas City, along with general manager Scott Pioli, who joined the Chiefs in January after spending almost a decade with the Patriots.
Cassel is actually part of the Vrabel trade that was agreed upon Friday. New England has received Kansas City's second round pick in the deal.
New England designated Cassel as their franchise player earlier this month, which guaranteed him $14.65 million next season.

Chiefs Retain Gailey, Hire Gibbs
The Chiefs have retained offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, while hiring Gary Gibbs to be head coach Todd Haley's defensive coordinator.
Also hired were Bill Muir, who was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for Tampa Bay, and Joel Collier, Pat Perles, Steve Hoffman, Clancy Pendergast and Dedric Ward.
Chiefs Fire Five Assistant Coaches
The Chiefs fired five assistant coaches on Friday, seven weeks after the 2008 NFL season finished.
Position coaches Jon Embree (tight ends), Curtis Modkins (running backs) and Eric Price (wide receivers) as well as quality control coaches Mike Ketchum and Kevin Patullo were all fired.
It is unclear whether Chan Gailey (offensive coordinator), Bob Bicknell and Joe D?Alessandris (offensive line) and Tim Krumrie (defensive line) will remain with the team.
Gonzalez: I'd Have No Problem Staying In K.C.
Tight end Tony Gonzalez is now saying that he'd "have no problem staying with the Chiefs," depending on what moves they make this offseason.
Gonzalez admitted as much on Sunday in the midst of yet another Pro Bowl appearance.
"I spoke to [new general manager Scott] Pioli last week because there were some trade rumors out there saying I wanted to have a trade, and that wasn't the case," Gonzalez said.
"I said, 'This is the reason I would want a trade.' It was taken out of context.
"There is no doubt in my mind that Scott Pioli is going to come in there and do an amazing job and so is Todd Haley, the new head coach. But I'm going into year 13. I want to play maybe two more years, and that's maybe.
"I've been in three playoff games and won none. Just looking at the Super Bowl this year, it would be so great to get that opportunity to play for that.
"I'm not saying the Chiefs can't do that. They will eventually turn that corner; it?s how soon can they do that. Once free-agency comes, and they're wheeling and dealing, and they're making trades, and it looks good, then I have no problem staying with the Chiefs."
LJ Still Wants Out Of Kansas City
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has maintained his stance that he wants to play elsewhere next season.
In a radio interview on Wednesday, Johnson said it's time for him and the Chiefs to "break ties."
"They can go on and find what they want. And I can try to go on and rebuild my career and find what I want," Johnson said.
Team spokesman Bob Moore said that Johnson's comments were nothing new.
"Larry Johnson is a member of the Kansas City Chiefs under contract with the Kansas City Chiefs," Moore said in an interview. "Nothing said about this matter has changed that fact in any way."
