Arizona's Haley Tip-Toes Around K.C. Rumors
Cardinals' offensive coordinator Todd Haley talked about his desire to become a head coach in the NFL on Tuesday and was very aware of rumors that he could end up in Kansas City.
"I don't know if you can say everybody wants to be a head coach," said Haley. "I didn't get in this business to be a head coach. As you move further along, and you move up the ladder, it's something you start to think about.
" 'Could I do this job, could I not do this job?' I have great confidence in my ability, and if the right situation presents itself, I think I'd like to show that."
He then directly discussed the persistent rumors linking him to the Chiefs.
"That would make me feel good, but that's pure speculation, and something I'm not thinking about, and that's coming from my heart," Haley said. "We worked too hard to get to this game, and I am truly excited and blessed that the Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl, which is a monumental thing."

"Like I've told everybody else, I love my job here," he said. "I love the guy I work for (Whisenhunt), and the guys I work with, and I love the guys I coach.
"I've got five kids, so the last thing I'm thinking about is moving anywhere. I'm just enjoying what's going on right here and the fact we've been able to do something nobody else has been able to do."

Kansas City Fires Herm Edwards
The Kansas City Chiefs today announced that head coach Herm Edwards has been relieved of his duties effective immediately.
ESPN is reporting that Kansas City is close to hiring Mike Shanahan.

?This was not an easy decision. Herm is an outstanding football coach and a man of integrity. We appreciate his leadership over the past three seasons, and we wish him all the best in the future.?
General Manager Scott Pioli reiterated Hunt?s sentiments.
?Since my arrival last week, Herm and I have had several conversations as part of my overall evaluation of the football operation. After careful consideration, Clark and I felt that it was best to make a change.
"What I conveyed last week in the press conference I still believe to be true ? Herm is a great man and a tremendous football coach. He respects the game and the league, and he is passionate about his players and his craft.
?Over the course of this last week, I have also spent time meeting and visiting with most of the assistant coaches, and I will continue to do so over the next several days. All of the coaches from last year's staff, with the exception of one, are under contract through the 2009 season."
