Sources: Chiefs Agree To Send DE Allen To Minnesota
The Chiefs' Jared Allen is headed to the Vikings, according to multiple sources, and reported by ESPN.com.
Late Tuesday night, the Chiefs and the Vikings reached an agreement on a trade package, and at roughly the same time, Allen reached an agreement in principle on a contract with the Vikings. Upon reaching the contract agreement, Allen headed to the airport and left to meet with Minnesota.
Eagles Also Interested In K.C. DE Allen
The Eagles are reportedly among the teams interested in Kansas City defensive end Jared Allen, according to the Delco Times.
A handful of teams have inquired about Allen, with the Vikings at one point looking as though they all but had a deal in place to acquire him from the Chiefs.
Philadelphia has discussed shipping Lito Sheppard and some picks to Kansas City for Allen, according to a source.
No Agreement Yet Between Allen, Vikings
Defensive end Jared Allen and the Minnesota Vikings still have yet to come to terms on a long-term contract offer, which has held up a potential trade from the Chiefs, according to the Kansas City Star.
Several reports, however, have indicted that the talks of compensation between the Vikings and Chiefs have impeded the talks.
Allen could possibily pay a visit to the Buccaneers this week as well, adding a third fold into the mix.
Vikings Still Working To Acquire DE Allen
The Vikings are still working to trade for Kansas City defensive end Jared Allen, according to the Star Tribune.
Allen visited with Minnesota on Friday night, and would need to agree on a long-term contract with the Vikings in order to facilitate a trade from the Chiefs.
"It's a multi-front type of [deal]," Vikings owner Zygi Wilf said. "You have to deal with Kansas City, you have to deal with Jared. It's a whole aspect, and you have to weigh that with what's best for the club. That's ultimately what's most important. What would be the best for this club and how we can get to the next level?"
Are The Chiefs Looking At Gholston?
It appears as though the Chiefs may be planning to select Vernon Gholston in next weekend's draft, according the Kansas City Star.
They could get themselves a replacement pass rusher for Jared Allen, who appears to be on his way out of Kansas City. The team has been fielding offers for Allen over the last few days.
Ohio State's Gholston visited with the Chiefs on Thursday.
Chiefs Listening To Offers For DE Allen
The Kansas City Chiefs are listening to offers for defensive end Jared Allen, according to the NFL Network.
Allen is scheduled to meet with the Vikings on Friday and Buccaneers sometime next week.
"We will confirm that we have been in conversation with a few teams regarding the possibility of acquiring Jared Allen's contractual rights," said Chiefs' President Carl Peterson in a statement. "Any potential agreement would be contingent on the Chiefs receiving appropriate compensation and Jared?s representative reaching a contract agreement."
Broncos Reach One-Year Deal With WR Parker
The Broncos reached an agreement with former Kansas City receiver Samie Parker on Monday, according to the Denver Post.
"I'm a Bronco," Parker said Monday night of the one-year pact. "This is a good situation for me because I'm going to be able to come in and compete for a job."
He had a marginal season for the Chiefs in 2006 but was bumped down the depth chart by Dwayne Bowe last season.
Chiefs Sign KR Sams, FB Manderino
The Chiefs on Monday signed return specialist B.J. Sams to a one-year contract and fullback Chris Manderino to a two-year deal, as reported by the Associated Press.
Broncos Eyeing WR's Jackson And Parker
The Broncos are looking to add depth to their wide receiver corps and have their eyes on free agents Samie Parker and Darrell Jackson, according to the Denver Post.
Parker last played with the Chiefs, while Jackson was cut by the 49ers earlier this offseason.
It is believed that the Broncos could reach an agreement with Parker by Monday, unless they decide to give Jackson a longer look.
Chiefs Sign Free-Agent Return Specialist
The Chiefs have signed free-agent return specialist B.J. Sams to a one-year contract, according to the Kansas City Star.
Sams played his last three seasons in Baltimore, missing last year with torn knee ligaments. He will be ready for full contact when the Chiefs open training camp in July.
