The Carolina Panthers have hired Frank Reich as head coach.

Carolina's search came down to Reich and Steve Wilks. Wilks went 6-6 as interim head coach after Matt Rhule was fired and was the sentimental favorite by Carolina players to get the job.

Reich is the first offensive-minded head coach hired in Carolina history, which played a big role in the decision over Wilks.

Reich was the starting quarterback of the Panthers for their first game in franchise history in 1995.

The Indianapolis Colts are moving on to a second round of head coaching interviews and Jeff Saturday remains in the mix, according to a report.

The Colts went 1-7 under Saturday after Frank Reich was fired.

Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero is also set for a second interview. Per the report, as many as seven or eight candidates will meet with the Colts a second time.

Demeco Ryans had four head coaching interviews scheduled for Saturday, but canceled two of them to spend the remainder of the day preparing for the San Francisco 49ers to play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Ryans interviewed with the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans, then canceled scheduled interviews with the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts.

Ryans is considered one of the top candidates on the market due to his work as defensive coordinator of the 49ers. 

The Indianapolis Colts have submitted a request to interview Dan Quinn for their head coaching vacancy.

Quinn is already scheduled to be interviewed with the Denver Broncos on Friday.

Quinn was previously a head coach with the Atlanta Falcons and has most recently been defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys. 

Jeff Saturday strongly criticized Kayvon Thibodeaux after the New York Giants rookie's snow angel sack celebration while Nick Foles lay on the field injured Sunday.

Foles was injured in the second quarter of the Giants' 38-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts at MetLife Stadium when Thibodeaux delivered a blindside hit that caused Foles to land on the ball with the defensive end landing on top of him.

As Foles lay on the turf writhing in pain, Thibodeaux launched into a lengthy celebration.

"Tasteless from the celebration afterward," Saturday said. "Just trash. Not a fan of it at all."

Thibodeaux said after the game he didn't realize Foles was injured at the time, saying, "After a sack, you celebrate ... I think when I did realize he was hurt, that's when we started getting up. When you are doing the celebration, you are not looking to see who is doing what. I hope he gets well and I hope he is all right."
