DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller Amongst 10 Texans Stuck In Houston

Aug 30, 2017 10:21 AM

DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller, Braxton Miller, D'Onta Foreman and Akeem Hunt are amongst 10 Houston Texans that remain stuck in Houston. Those players didn't make the trip with the Texans to New Orleans for a preseason game.

The Texans have moved some players who live in areas stricken by bad flooding, housing them in a hotel near NRG Stadium.

"We've stayed in touch with everybody two or three times a day to reach them," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "Sometimes, the issue is the cell service, not being able to reach them on their phone. We're doing the best we can. I don't want to mention specific names.

"Some guys are in areas that have been hit harder than other areas. Some guys, we were able to move to the Holiday Inn across from the stadium. Some other guys are in tough areas, relative to the flood. We're doing the best we can to stay in touch and do what we can to help them."

Texans Want Season Opener To Remain In Houston

Aug 30, 2017 1:22 PM

The Houston Texans are currently scheduled to host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 of the regular season.

The Texans have moved their preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday to AT&T Stadium due to flooding as a result of severe weather.

However, the Texans have made it clear that not only do they want to play at NRG Stadium on Sept. 10 if at all possible, but they believe it's "important" for the city that they play at home.

"If our stadium's ready to go, it's important to have that game at home," coach Bill O'Brien said. "Maybe it gives our fans a chance, for three hours at least, to cheer and kind of forget about the trials and tribulations of what would be the last two weeks.

"I think we have the best fans, anyway, so just imagine what NRG Stadium will be like for that first home game. Football's big in Texas, anyway, but when you put it in Houston and take into consideration such a catastrophic event, football becomes even bigger. It gives our fans a chance to cheer and let off some steam."

Texans-Cowboys Preseason Game Moved To Arlington

Aug 28, 2017 6:24 PM

Thursday's preseason game between the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans has been moved to Arlington due to Hurricane Harvey.

Houston is currently in a state of emergency due to severe flooding in the area.

The Texans open up the 2017 regular season on September 10th at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The two teams will play again on December 17th, which would allow the NFL to flip home dates if the recovery effort won't allow the Texans to host the game.

Tom Savage 'Not Going To Let Anyone' Taking Starting Job

Aug 16, 2017 10:27 AM

Tom Savage is confident he'll be the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans this season.

Savage is trying to hold off rookie Deshaun Watson for the job.

"My mindset is that this is my team. And I'm not going to let anyone take it," Savage said.

"Now, I can't control what happens. I can only control what I can do. And I said it before. It's a pretty simple equation I think a lot of people overthink, especially in this league. If you go there and you win and you play well, they can't pull you. And if you go out there and you lose and the offense doesn't look good, they can pull you. So the goal is to go out there and play well and win games. And that's all you can really control."

DeAndre Hopkins Endorses Tom Savage To Start For Texans

Aug 4, 2017 6:56 PM

DeAndre Hopkins is endorsing Tom Savage to be the Houston Texans' starting quarterback.

The Texans drafted DeShaun Watson in the first round this year.

"If anybody should be a judge of quarterbacks, I've played with the most quarterbacks in NFL history throughout my first four years," Hopkins said after practice Friday. "So I put the stamp on Savage, and I think that's all that needs to be said about that."

Savage is the incumbent, having spent three years with the Texans and starting two games for them last season due to the struggles of Brock Osweiler.
