Jordy Nelson Open About Desire To Remain With Packers

Sep 5, 2014 5:06 PM

Jordy Nelson is open in expressing his desire to remain with the Green Bay Packers long-term.

Nelson is in the final season of a three-year, $12.6 million extension that became a bargain for the Packers.

"My wife and I have enjoyed it," Nelson said Sunday of his time in Green Bay. "Let's see, it's 6 years going on 7 years now. We don't want to go anywhere else. We love it here. We want to be here, and hopefully we can get to that point."

Nelson has a pair of 1,200-plus yard seasons in the last three years, including a career-best 1,314 yards last season.

Nelson doesn't appear to be looking for extra money considering how much he ended up leaving on the table due to his statistical spike.

"What I got in that last deal, I'll never spend it all anyway," Nelson said last week. "So I'm not worried about it."

Finley Receives Interest From Steelers, Raiders

Sep 4, 2014 11:28 PM

Jermichael Finley has met with the New England Patriots and is now drawing interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders.

Finley has consistently received interest from teams, but it is unclear yet if he will be fully cleared by doctors as he recovers from a surgically repaired neck.

The Green Bay Packers still envision Finley remaining with their club if he's cleared.

Jordy Nelson's Production Has Made His Contract Below Market Value

Jul 3, 2014 6:11 AM

Jordy Nelson gambled and lost when he signed a contract extension three years ago with the Green Bay Packers.

Nelson was a 26-year-old receiver whose best season was 45 catches for 582 yards and two touchdowns at the time of the deal.

Under his current contract, which averages $4.2 million per season, Nelson ranks 34th in pay among all NFL receivers, which makes it look like he left money on the table the last time around.

"When I signed it, I don't think I did," Nelson said Tuesday. "I think everyone when I signed thought it was a good deal. No one would have known I'd have 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns [in 2011]. Obviously, hindsight is 20/20 but, again, I'm not worried about that at all. I've been comfortable with my decision.

"I've talked to other guys who've given me a hard time about it and they've been in the same situation of getting re-done with a year left and like, what to do. You've just got to live with your decision, one way or the other. You sign it, you've got to be happy. If you outplay it, you've got to deal with it. If you don't sign it and you get hurt, you've got to deal with that."

Nelson believes talks on a new deal will gain momentum soon, though the Packers have shown a propensity to let aging wide receivers leave the team.
