Rodgers Calls Barnett, Says 'Everything Is Cool'

Jul 20, 2014 10:26 PM

Aaron Rodgers told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio he called linebacker Nick Barnett on Saturday to discuss his comments and Barnett's about the team photo situation. "I initiated the conversation. We ironed things out. I didn't think there needed to be an apology on either side," Rodgers said. "I reminded him I was the one who went to the third floor and lobbied to have everyone in the team photo. I realize people are going to want to talk about this at the Super Bowl, but everything is cool." Rodgers was asked Saturday if he feels for his teammates on injured reserve because they can't take part in the run-up to the Super Bowl. Rodgers made a point of saying that when he spent time on injured reserve in 2006, he stayed in Green Bay to finish the season instead of returning home to California. A number of Packers opted to rehab away from the team this season.

Rodgers Questions Rehab Choices Of Some Packers

Sep 30, 2014 11:37 PM

Aaron Rodgers questioned the rehab choices of some injured Packers during an interview on Saturday. Rodgers was asked if he feels for his teammates on injured reserve because they can't take part in the run-up to the Super Bowl. "I'll say this, I was on IR back in 2006 and I chose to stick around and finish out the season with my guys and be here every game. Some of those guys didn't," Rodgers said. "We love them, we care about them, we don't wish injury on anybody, but this is a group of guys that's really come together and it's been great to work with the guys we've brought in midseason, some of them, and the young guys. "Some of the guys who were injured, they still are part of this team, but some of them didn't choose to stick around."

Packers Focused On Tackling Roethlisberger Properly

Oct 9, 2014 7:24 PM

The Packers are preparing to face Ben Roethlisberger in the Super Bowl by watching video on how not to tackle the Steelers quarterback. The package put together by Green Bay defensive coordinator Dom Capers featured other teams making poor tackles, but the Packers are aware of their own short-comings. "I'm sure it could have lasted longer," linebacker Desmond Bishop said of the video. "A lot of guys are going for his pump fakes or not wrapping up fully when they have him. "It's just a mental or a subliminal note that when you get your opportunity to get him, you got to hit, you got to wrap up and bring all your technique and all your weight with you, because he's definitely a big guy to bring down." Green Bay sacked Roethlisberger five times in 2009, but missed several other opportunities as Big Ben threw for a career-best 503 yards and three touchdowns in a wild 37-36 regular-season victory. "We had five sacks, but, man, we could have had him down 10 times. He's tough to tackle," defensive end Ryan Pickett said. "He's a good quarterback. And he breaks more tackles than any running back I've seen."

Oct 31, 2014 4:27 PM

Bears defensive end Julius Peppers has been fined $10,000 for his hit on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the fourth quarter of Sunday's NFC Championship Game. On Wednesday, Rodgers shot down speculation that he sustained another concussion on the Peppers hit. "Not too much to talk about," Rodgers said. "I didn't have a concussion. I want to dispel that rumor. No concussion. I was fine. Yeah. Helmets are designed to prevent concussions, I think."

Obama Lauds Packers, Receives GB Jerseys

Oct 31, 2014 2:22 PM

President Barack Obama predicted Wednesday that his Bears will get revenge against the rival Packers next season. "Sunday was a tough day for Bears fans," he said at a Wisconsin energy company. "But even if it didn't go the way that I wanted, I'm glad to see that one of the greatest rivalries in sports is still there. "And we will get you next year. I'm just letting you know," he said. The Packers won last weekend's NFC Championship Game, 21-14, dashing Obama's hopes of going to Arlington, Texas, for the Super Bowl on Feb. 6. Obama said he wanted to make it clear that he didn't come to Wisconsin "because I lost a bet." He was also clear about all the Green Bay jerseys he had received shortly after arriving. "I've only been on the ground for an hour. I've got three jerseys," Obama said. "One of them is from [Packers cornerback Charles] Woodson and he just said, 'See you at the White House.' "

Is Green Bay The Greatest Six-Loss Team Ever?

May 17, 2014 2:51 AM

The Packers got into the playoffs with six losses, but a closer look at their schedule shows that they were much better than their record. Their losses were extremely close and they were competitive in all 16 of their games. "The Packers lost twice by field goals in overtime, twice by field goals in the last 10 seconds of the fourth quarter, and twice by four points, with both of those four-point losses coming on the road with quarterback Aaron Rodgers injured," Michael David Smith wrote for the Wall Street Journal. No team in NFL history had ever before had a six-loss season with all six losses by four points or fewer, according to Stats Inc.

Rodgers: Helmet Saved Me From Concussion

Sep 12, 2014 9:54 PM

Aaron Rodgers says the new helmet he was wearing against the Bears on Sunday saved him from suffering his third concussion of the season. After being twice-concussed early this season, he changed helmets to one of the new, safer, high-tech models the league has been urging players to use. Rodgers absorbed a helmet-to-helmet hit from defensive end Julius Peppers early in the fourth quarter, but came away unharmed. "That was lucky," Rodgers told Peter King. "As much as the new helmet feels uncomfortable and I'm still getting used to it, I'm really happy I was wearing it on that hit."
