Agent: Driver Is Happy With Contract

Aug 7, 2014 10:06 PM

Donald Driver's agent has refuted rumors that the Green Bay receiver is unhappy with his contract. Driver is working out in Houston instead of attending the team's voluntary workouts, a decision that only fed into rumors. "Donald is training in Texas," agent Jordan Woy wrote in an e-mail to the Journal-Sentinel. "It is not a mandatory camp and the Packers understand this." Driver is due to make $6.1 million this season and $7 million in 2010. "Oh, I'm happy," Driver said of his contract when asked by WITI-TV Fox6 in Milwaukee. "They always say when you get later in your career you go out there and do your best and hopefully you'll get what you deserve."

Packers' Collins Missing Workouts With Family Issues

Aug 7, 2014 3:54 PM

Packers Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins has denied that unhappiness with his contract is the reason why he hasn't attended voluntary offseason workouts. According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Collins claims that he has personal reasons for not attending the workouts. Collins is heading into the final year of his contract and is due a $3.045 million base salary. "I had some family issues, don't really want to talk about it," Collins said Tuesday. "(The family issues) are the problem. ... The contract was never an issue. Y'all are the ones writing all that stuff about a contract. I haven't said a word about a contract, so my thing is I have family issues that I'm taking care of and that's what I'm dealing with."

Family: It's Too Early To Call Favre Retired

Oct 9, 2014 4:38 AM

The family of Brett Favre knows that it's too early to truly call the quarterback retired. "I told Jeff [Favre, Brett's brother], 'I guess we're not going to watch the Vikings play in Lambeau Field this year,' " [family friend, Steve] Haas said. "Jeff just said, 'Oh, it's early yet.' "That's what I think, too. For Brett, it's early yet." As we know, it's never too late for Favre to change his mind. His own mother acknowledged the fact. "It would be a tough decision for anyone," said Favre's mother, Bonita. "It's also difficult when you love the game. After he's home for a while and starts realizing what's at stake and it starts getting time, the wheels start turning."

Report: Vikings 'Split' On Favre

Oct 23, 2014 7:02 PM

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports has reported that the Vikings are "split" on whether or not to bring Brett Favre out of retirement. "Brad Childress and Brett Favre are scheduled to meet later this week. However, the Minnesota Vikings have not taken it that far as an organization. This is just Favre and Brad Childress. That's all it is right now. It's Favre meeting with Brad Childress. The organization has not yet met to discuss the possibility of signing Brett Favre," Glazer said in a video update. "The organization is pretty much split. Right now, a lot of people in the organization who feel, 'Hey, we're below the radar right now. Everybody is focusing on the Chicago Bears because they have Jay Cutler. Nobody is really looking at us right now. All we have is Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson.' That would put them obviously well on the map and well over the radar, if you will," he added.

Brett Favre sent a text message to former quarterback and current ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer on Monday saying that he won't play in 2009. Favre, who received his release from the Jets reserve/retired list last week, said "NO" in capital letters when Dilfer asked if he was returning after his second retirement. There was speculation that he might join the Vikings, who many feel are a quarterback away from Super Bowl contention.

Packers Considered Drafting Matthews At Nine

Jul 28, 2014 4:18 PM

The Packers were very high on USC linebacker Clay Matthews heading into last month's NFL Draft, and considered taking him with the ninth overall pick. Sources around the league said last week that Green Bay would have selected Matthews with the pick if nose tackle B.J. Raji was off the board. "Now that I think back on it, I did have some great meetings with the Packers' organization and its representatives," said Matthews, who was taken by Green Bay with the 26th pick. "Just being able to relate. They were able to see the type of guy I was."

Report: Favre Can't Stand Green Bay

May 10, 2014 5:04 AM

As rumors persist that Brett Favre could come out retirement yet again, a source claims that the quarterback despises the team he spent fifteen years with. "Favre can't stand Green Bay," a league source told Gary Myers of the New York Daily News. "He wants to play Green Bay and say, 'I told you so.' His bitterness is creating this. I think he's calling Minnesota. I think Minnesota is talking about this as we speak. You haven't heard the end of Favre. No way. He is bionic. As long as somebody will let him in, he will play."
