Mike Shanahan Present At Broncos Practice For First Time In 11 Years

Jul 22, 2019 8:57 AM

Mike Shanahan attended his first Denver Broncos practice on Saturday since he was fired as head coach in 2008.

Shanahan had attended several team functions through the years, including games, a ceremony to honor the Super Bowl winners and the dedication of the team's fieldhouse, but this was the first time he had been at the team's practice field since he was the coach.

"I was glad to have Mike here. I invited him. I'm glad he could come," coach Vic Fangio said. "I invited him for the spring work, and the schedules never matched up, but I was glad he was here. I think it was good he was here. Mike's got a big part in the rich history of this franchise. He's welcome to come here any time he wants."

Joe Flacco: 'I've Got A Lot Left'

Jul 19, 2019 4:53 PM

Joe Flacco had his first training camp practice with the Denver Broncos on Thursday.

The quarterback sees his 12th season in the league as a fresh start, a second chance and a potential "take that" season all in one.

"It's tough to say that without almost putting yourself down for the last couple years of your career," he said. "There is an energy about coming here and an excitement that I feel being with this new team and getting another chance of being a starting quarterback. I don't think you can ever take that for granted. ... I'm definitely excited about it."

Flacco has never played an NFL game for a team other than the Baltimore Ravens.

"Yeah, there's no doubt [I've got something to prove]," Flacco said. "Listen, I think I've got a lot left in the tank. And I feel like I can do a lot more than I've shown in my 11-year career. I'm excited about that."
