Denver's Phillip Lindsay Sets NFL Rookie Record

Sep 17, 2018 8:36 AM

Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay set an NFL record on Sunday, becoming the first undrafted free agent ever with 100-plus scrimmage yards in each of his first two games.

Lindsay had 14 carries for 107 yards on Sunday.

"He is a good football player, not only as a running back, but as a guy who covers kicks for us and as a guy who catches the football for us," Vance Joseph said. "He's the total package football player. He's been really impressive."

Lindsay has out-touched fellow rookie Royce Freeman 32-to-23 through Denver's first two games.

Broncos Name Royce Freeman Starting Running Back

Sep 4, 2018 9:12 AM

The Denver Broncos have announced that rookie Royce Freeman will begin the season as their starting running back.

Rookies have led the NFL in rushing in each of the last two seasons.

The Broncos drafted Freeman with the 71st overall pick.

"He can carry the load from a physical standpoint and a mental standpoint," Vance Joseph said. "He was really good in pass [protection]. That's your biggest worry about having a young halfback playing with a veteran quarterback -- the pass issues."

Freeman will become the first rookie tailback to start for the Broncos since 1995 (Terrell Davis).

Broncos Release Paxton Lynch

Sep 2, 2018 7:04 PM

The Denver Broncos have waived Paxton Lynch after claiming Kevin Hogan off waivers.

Lynch was a first round pick in 2016. Lynch lost back-to-back training camp battles with Trevor Siemian the previous two summers.

"Vance and I met with Paxton this morning and informed him that it's best for everyone to make this move. We appreciate all of Paxton's hard work as a Bronco, and we wish him well in the future," John Elway said in a statement.
