Broncos Trade Demaryius Thomas To Texans

Oct 31, 2018 1:48 PM

The Denver Broncos have traded Demaryius Thomas to the Houston Texans in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

The teams will also swap seventh-round picks.

John Elway said "three or four teams" had expressed interest in Thomas.

"We were not hell bent on trading Demaryius,'' Elway said. "If the value was there, we felt the value was there ... we got the value we thought was fair and that was the most important thing."

Houston will face the Broncos in Denver on Sunday.

Demaryius Thomas: It's '50-50' Chance I'll Be Traded

Oct 29, 2018 12:41 PM

Demaryius Thomas believes there's a pretty good chance the Denver Broncos will trade him before Tuesday's deadline.

"How would you feel at your job [if] your boss, whoever, said they wanted you someplace else?" Thomas said after Sunday's game. "And you come into work every day and have to think about it? How would you feel? But I had to do it for my team, like it was normal, act like it was normal. It just kept coming up, from left and right. ... I had to think about it. ... It'll be interesting to see what happens in next couple days.

"I think it should have never gotten out, to tell you the truth. I would have never been thinking about it if it never got it. Nobody would be talking about."

The Broncos are 3-5 and Courtland Sutton is getting more looks at wide receiver.

Thomas put his odds of being traded at "50-50."

"I'll be on a squad. I'll be able to play ball," he said. "I'll be able to do what I love. If it's the Broncos, I would love it. But if it's not, it's a business. I gotta deal with it."

Oct 24, 2018 8:57 AM

Demaryius Thomas has come up in trade rumors ahead of next week's deadline, but the Denver Broncos are unlikely to move him.

It's a "good bet" Thomas remains with Denver beyond the Oct. 30 deadline, according to a report.

Thomas has some $5 million left in salary this season and has another year on his contract at $14 million.

Chad Kelly Arrested On Criminal Trespass Charge

Oct 23, 2018 1:41 PM

Chad Kelly has been charged with first-degree criminal trespass.

Kelly is the backup quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

Kelly allegedly entered a home uninvited and sat down on a couch while mumbling incoherently, the Englewood Police Department said.

According to an arrest affidavit, one of the homeowners, Nancy Lozano, was sitting on a couch just inside the front door while holding her young child when Kelly entered uninvited and sat down next to her, mumbling incoherently.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Kelly did not have any alcohol in his system, police said.

Kelly made an appearance in an Arapahoe County courthouse later Tuesday morning and has been released.

"We are disappointed that Chad Kelly was arrested early this morning," the Broncos said in a statement. "Our organization has been in contact with Chad and we are in the process of gathering more information."

Von Miller: Sam Darnold Was No. 1 Pick 'For Sure'

Oct 4, 2018 8:46 AM

If Von Miller had owned the first overall pick in this year's NFL Draft, he would have taken Sam Darnold.

The Denver Broncos will face the New York Jets in Week 5.

"I don't know nothing about drafting a quarterback or anything like that, but I thought he was the No. 1 pick, for sure," Miller said on a conference call.

Darnold has been the NFL's lowest-rated passer (63.8) over the past three weeks -- all losses for the Jets (1-3).

"I thought he was the best offensive player in the draft," Miller said. "He's a great quarterback. He's been playing well. They haven't been coming up with the wins, but he's playing really well."

Darnold was drafted third overall behind Baker Mayfield (Browns) and Saquon Barkley (Giants).

Broncos: Referees Admit Missed Play-Clock Call

Oct 2, 2018 8:44 AM

The Denver Broncos believe the Kansas City Chiefs should have been flagged on a pivotal play during the team's game-winning drive on Monday night.

The play clock appeared to expire on a play that resulted in Patrick Mahomes completing a 35-yard pass to Demetrius Harris on a third-and-7 just before the two-minute warning.

"It definitely was at zero. The replay showed that," Brandon Marshall said. "The ref told us that the ref that was supposed to be watching it just missed it. ... He told us that. The ref told us the guy that was supposed to be watching the clock just missed it.

"So maybe he got caught up in watching the game because it was a good game, but you've got to do your job. Come on, that was huge. That was big."

Replays seemed to show the play clock was at zero before the ball had been snapped.

"My opinion, the clock was on zero," Vance Joseph said. "But that's not my job. ... And he said he looked up and it was zero and the ball was gone. I disagree. I disagree."

Marshall said he and several other Broncos players, including several of the team's defensive linemen, were told by referee Craig Wrolstad that officials had missed the play.
