Elway: Demaryius Thomas' Absence 'Makes No Sense'

Apr 23, 2015 9:31 PM

John Elway is baffled by the absence of Demaryius Thomas at voluntary workouts.

Thomas was given the franchise tag this offseason and will make $12.8 million if he and the Denver Nuggets are unable to agree upon a long-term deal.

"To be dead honest with you, I see absolutely zero value with him being away from here," Elway said. "Him being away from here there is zero value not only to us, but to him. To me it makes no sense.''

Thomas' absence could stretch well into the summer.

"As far as negotiations ... we'd like to get something done," Elway said. "But by him being away from here, there is zero value, not only to us, (but) to him. To me it makes no sense. That actually has no effect to anything we're talking about, trying to get a contract done with him, because that's ultimately what we'd like to do. But for him not to be here it has zero effect."

Chris Harris: Broncos' Defense To Be Even More Reliant On CBs In 2015

Apr 20, 2015 7:21 PM

Chris Harris Jr. and Aqib Talib formed one of the NFL's best cornerback tandems last season with the Denver Broncos.

Harris expects the Broncos' defense to be even more reliant on them this season.

"(The defense) is going to rely a lot more on me and Talib to make a lot of plays," Harris said Monday on the first day of voluntary workouts, according to the team website. "We're going to be out there on an island a lot. It's a lot of responsibility on us to be able to shut our guys down."

"Everybody else is going to be a lot more aggressive," he added. "I'm pretty much going to be on an island, I've just got to cover my man a lot in this defense."

Dallas Police Suspend Investigation On Aqib Talib

Apr 18, 2015 5:09 PM

The Dallas Police Department said it has suspended an investigation into an alleged aggravated assault incident that involved Aqib Talib and his older brother, Yaqub, earlier this month.

Talib was never arrested or charged in connection with the incident, which allegedly happened in the early-morning hours on April 8 outside a nightclub in downtown Dallas.

Team sources told ESPN that Talib and his brother were both questioned by police at a different nightclub than the one where the incident occurred.

Von Miller Loses Weight In Hopes Of Having Strong 2015

Apr 17, 2015 10:25 PM

Von Miller entered the Denver Broncos' offseason program weighing four pounds less than he did at the 2011 scouting combine.

“I think I’ll be in better shape than I was last year,’’ Miller said Wednesday at the Broncos suburban Denver complex. “I was in pretty good shape last year, but go to another level of it. It’s always about how far you can push yourself, better yourself.’’

Miller is eating less junk food and drinking fewer drinks with sugar, while working out more.

“I really didn’t just take days off.’’ said Miller, who is set to enter the last year of his original five-year rookie contract. “Right after the Super Bowl I started working out, I wanted to make a point with myself with nutrition, just working out every day … I feel better at work, feel better out there on the on field, out there grinding.’’
