Demaryius Thomas Acknowledges Slow Start To 2014

Oct 21, 2014 5:02 PM

Demaryius Thomas has started slow during his first three games of the 2014 season.

"I know I can be better, I know I can play better, I know I can do things better than I've done them so far,'' Thomas said just before the Broncos adjourned for their bye weekend. "I haven't done the things I know I can do.''

Thomas has just 48, 62 and 31 yards in the first three games.

He has one touchdown catch, and what he called "the thing I have to fix'' is the most glaring number of all: his dropped-pass total. Thomas has already dropped four passes this season.

Thomas dropped just five balls in all of 2013.

"I just haven't been consistent, and it bothers me,'' Thomas said. "I think about it, I keep practicing hard, doing the things I need to do. I want to make it right.''

Harris: Wilson Better Than Luck

Oct 21, 2014 5:05 PM

Chris Harris believes Russell Wilson is a better quarterback than Andrew Luck.

Harris and the Denver Broncos have played both Wilson and Luck this season.

"He's the best quarterback we've played so far," Harris said of Wilson. "I don't know why they keep saying Andrew Luck is better than him. He's not better than Russell Wilson."

Luck was taken by the Colts with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2012 draft. Wilson wasn't selected by the Seahawks until the third round in 2012, with the 75th overall pick.

Union Seeking Reversals On Current Suspensions

Sep 12, 2014 7:18 AM

NFLPA chief DeMaurice Smith told a Washington radio station Friday that, in talks with the NFL about a new policy for performance-enhancing drugs, the union will seek to reverse suspensions that occurred this year but are based retroactively to the previous policy.

"We don't want players to suffer because the union and league couldn't get it done before the league year," Smith told 106.7 The Fan, adding that the union would not agree to any policy that punishes players on simply being arrested.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter reported Thursday that the NFL is seeking to be able to punish players after an arrest but before the legal process plays out. The negotiations have been described as "fragile."

Multiple sources told ESPN.com Friday that the Broncos believe if the league and union hammer out a new policy before Welker's suspension is completed, he would be reinstated. Cleveland.com, citing league sources, also reported Gordon might be eligible for reinstatement if a revamped drug policy is approved.

Peyton Manning To Play Until He Sucks

Nov 22, 2014 6:43 PM

Peyton Manning has remained one of the NFL's best quarterbacks after coming back from multiple neck surgeries.

Manning plans on taking Tom Brady's advice on when to decide to retire.

“There’s nowhere I’d rather play, I know that,” he said. “I love playing for this team and I love representing this team. Hopefully I can do that for as long as I can. When I suck, I’ll retire. I don’t plan on sucking for a long time. [Laughing] Hopefully that leads me to be in here, and there’s no place I’d rather be. I love this game and I love working hard at it.

“I’ve had a lot of people over the years tell me the things I couldn’t do, and I think that’s always been great motivation for me to go out there and accomplish things that I think I can do. Hopefully it’s to continue to play at a high level for a really long period of time.”

Von Miller: J.J. Watt 'Underpaid' Despite $100M Contract

Dec 14, 2014 11:44 AM

Von Miller was asked for his reaction to J.J. Watt's $100 million contract extension with the Houston Texans.

Miller is another member of the vaunted 2011 NFL Draft class and one of the NFL's best defensive players.

"He's underpaid in my opinion," Miller said, according toUSAToday.com's Lindsay Jones. "What he does for the Texans, no one else does that for their organization. None of the big-time quarterbacks that are getting the big-time deals do. J.J. Watt deserves a similar deal. He does everything on the field, everything off the field. It was well deserved. I think he should have gotten more."

Miller was ranked first among all 4-3 outside linebackers last season, according to Pro Football Focus.

"We've got great guys in the front office," he said. "I've got great guys that represent me. I'll let them take care of it."
