Elway Planning To Remain With Broncos In Long-Term

May 29, 2014 10:57 AM

John Elway is entering his third season as the Denver Broncos' top decision-maker and will remain with the franchise in the role for the foreseeable future.

“He’s dug in,” Broncos' president Joe Ellis told reporters Friday. “I went up and visited the draft meetings just to see the interaction and see how they were working in the room. They’re in there early in the morning until early evening with a lot of conversation. John’s listening, hearing everybody out. There’s good dialogue between he and Coach Fox, back and forth, some of the assistant coaches, some of the personnel people. I run out of gas after about an hour and a half -- my attention span isn’t quite as good as theirs when it comes to analyzing players over and over. But they’re doing a lot of hard work. I don’t see him wavering with that at all. I think he’s very good about delegating and listening, but also strong enough and confident enough in his knowledge and his opinions to have the courage of his convictions and make good decisions on behalf of the organization, as I said, short-term and long-term. I believe he’s going to be here for a while.”

Manning Wants Broncos' Offense To Move Faster

Oct 31, 2014 9:46 AM

Peyton Manning wants the Denver Broncos to move faster on offense next season.

Denver tied for the fourth-most offensive plays in 2012.

The Broncos ran 1,090 offensive plays during the regular season, an average of 68.13 per game.

"For whatever reason, our offense plays better the faster we go. I think that was clear cut last season. The receivers liked it; they got into a rhythm," Manning said. "Anything we can do as an offense to build off that, anything we can do to make us more efficient as an offense, that's what we're looking to do."

A number of teams will begin voluntary offseason workouts on Monday, including the Denver Broncos.

Elway: Draft Isn't 'Top Heavy' But Has Depth

Oct 31, 2014 5:49 AM

John Elway has the 28th pick in the NFL Draft, which he figures is a good place for the Denver Broncos to be this year.

"The draft this year is not top-heavy," Elway said. "So we feel like we can get as good a player at No. 28 as we could at 10. It's not like last year with (Andrew) Luck and RGIII (Robert Griffin III). The year before with Von (Miller), (Marcell) Dareus, A.J. Green and Patrick Peterson -- (a) loaded top end. This is probably a deeper draft, but not nearly as many top-impact guys."

Peyton Says He Still Compensates For Neck Issues

Jul 21, 2014 7:20 AM

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning had multiple neck surgeries and missed all of 2011 season.

Upon his return last season, he threw for 4,659 yards and the second-most touchdowns of his NFL career (37).

"You know, I still have certain challenges," Manning said of the nerve issues in his neck. "When you're dealing with nerves, I've learned it's a patience deal. They kind of say it could be a year or two, or it may never come back, so I'm kind of hopeful. I kind of wish certain things would come back a little bit more, but I have learned to adjust and compensate in the state that I am. I still would like to make some more improvement. I still work at it.

"Obviously, I still can perform kind of status quo, but I still have hopes and (am) determined to try to seek some more improvement. But, yeah, I'm certainly better than I was last year. But I'm still not quite where I was before I was injured."

Garcon: RG3 'Can Be Just As Good' As Peyton

Oct 31, 2014 2:15 PM

Pierre Garcon, who spent four seasons with Peyton Manning as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, believes that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III can be just as good as the surefire Hall of Famer.

"(Griffin) can be just as good as Peyton," Garcon told "NFL AM" on Thursday.

The wide receiver called both quarterbacks "natural leaders," saying they "take control of the huddle, the meetings ... and communicate with all the players."

"Peyton's very skilled with his arm, Robert is skilled with his arm and his legs, so that's what makes him more dynamic and more dangerous," Garcon said, "but they are very similar. ... Robert's going to very good, and just as good as Peyton."

Manning Throws To Welker At Duke Workout

Oct 31, 2014 5:55 PM

For the first time since they became teammates, Peyton Manning is throwing passes to Wes Welker.

Manning and Welker are working out with others at Duke University with Blue Devils coach David Cutcliffe, who was Manning's offensive coordinator at Tennessee.

Denver wide receivers Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas are also working out.

"There's certain guys you just feel like you have timing with right away," Manning said. "He's a guy that has a great feel for how to get open, and understands route concepts and, of course, he played in such a sophisticated offense there in New England, so he's a smart player. You can see why he's been such a productive player. He's intense. He loves to work."
