Lloyd Curses Out Teams Who Cut Him

May 16, 2014 11:11 PM

Brandon Lloyd will make his first-ever trip to the Pro Bowl next month, but he's gaining more attention for recent comments than his play on the field. After a season full of catching passes, Lloyd used profanity in a conference call Tuesday night following the Pro Bowl announcement. Asked if there's anything he would like to say to San Francisco, Washington and Chicago, teams that let him go earlier in his career, Lloyd responded with a four-letter expletive, then added, "and I mean that in the most professional way."

Broncos, Elway Still Discussing Front-Office Role

May 16, 2014 8:21 PM

The Broncos and John Elway are still discussing a potential front-office role. "We're still talking and trying to figure out what that role would be and how it looks and what the landscape is," Elway said during his radio appearance Friday on 87.7 FM The Ticket. "Obviously, they're still busy with the football season and trying to get through the end of this year. Let me say this: The talks are still continuing, and I'm still hopeful that something will get worked out." Elway led the Broncos to five Super Bowl appearances and two championships during his 16-year career.

Orton Upset With Losing Job To Tebow

Sep 12, 2014 7:39 PM

The Broncos will start Tim Tebow for the rest of the 2010 season, leaving Kyle Orton disappointed with Denver's decision. Orton sat out Sunday's game due to a rib injury, but insists he is now healthy enough to play. "I'd love to play it out," Orton said. "It wasn't my decision. There was nothing I could do. . . . The way it was presented to me was he'll be the starter the rest of the season and that's just how it goes." The Broncos likely would prefer to start Tebow in 2011. "I don't know what's going to happen," Orton said. "I do know I'm not the one who's going to be making that decision. I'm not the one who made this decision. But (if) the organization wants to go a different way the rest of the year, then hey, that's just how it is. If I'm back next year, my belief is I'm coming back as the starter. "Like I've said, I don't think anything I've done with my play warrants anything other than that. But they've made the decision, and I'm not going to fight the decision. It's the decision. I'll just prepare myself to play."

Tebow Will Make Second Straight Start

Jun 10, 2014 4:39 PM

Tim Tebow will start at quarterback for the Broncos against the Texans this weekend. The rookie made his first NFL start in Sunday's loss to Oakland. Interim coach Eric Studesville said Kyle Orton is still bothered by bruised ribs and that Tebow did a good job managing the game plan. "Well, the reason right now was that we felt that Tim played well yesterday, ran our offense effectively," Studesville said. "Compounding that was the fact that Kyle still was rehabbing ... and we just felt like prolonging this later into the week wasn't the best thing for our preparation and practice."

The team will play their final two games at home and fans have been calling for Tebow, who made his first career start at Oakland on Sunday. "Tim Tebow came in and managed our offense, did a nice job, led our football team, and it was a good start for us with him in there at quarterback," said Eric Studesville, the Broncos' interim head coach.

Tebow's First Start Wasn't 'Extremely Difficult'

Sep 19, 2014 4:46 PM

The Broncos weren't victorious, but Tim Tebow played well in his first NFL start on Sunday against the Raiders. He went 8-for-16 with 138 yards and a touchdown for a passer rating of 100.5. Tebow also rushed eight times for 78 yards and another score. "You're playing against the biggest, strongest, fastest, but at the end of the day it's still playing football and so it wasn't extremely different," Tebow said.

Xanders Hopes To Remain In Denver's Front Office

Sep 21, 2014 11:58 AM

Broncos general manager Brian Xanders was Josh McDaniels' right-hand man, but the former coach made all the final personnel decisions. Xanders stayed on when McDaniels was fired earlier this month and hopes to remain Denver's general manager. "The dynamics were he had final say on player personnel issues," Xanders said of McDaniels. "I was respectful of that, and I was going to work under those parameters. We did our best to build our draft board and free-agency ranking lists and match the player personnel fits with scheme requirements we have."
