McDaniels Appears Safe For 2010

Sep 13, 2014 6:09 PM

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen made it clear that the team's 3-8 record isn't acceptable. Bowlen also indicated that coach Josh McDaniels is on a very short leash, but also paved the way for him to finish out the 2010 season. "This has been a very trying and disappointing season for all of us," Bowlen said in a written statement, according to The Denver Post. "We haven't had the success we had hoped to achieve. Josh McDaniels is the head coach of the Broncos, and you always strive for stability at that position. However, with five games left in the 2010 season, we will continue to monitor the progress of the team and evaluate what's in the best interest of this franchise."

McDaniels: Job Status Out Of My Hands

Sep 13, 2014 6:09 PM

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels isn't concerned about his job status as he continues to try to turn the team around. Denver's second-year coach said his only focus is on fixing what's gone wrong during a 3-8 season sullied by a videotaping scandal that cost him and the team $50,000 each and resulted in a subordinate's firing over the weekend.

Broncos Blanketed 49ers With Apologies

Sep 13, 2014 3:39 AM

Before Denver's videotaping incident became public Saturday, owner Pat Bowlen had personally called San Francisco owner John York to apologize for his team's actions, according to a source. In addition, each of the top layers of the Broncos organization called his matching 49ers colleague to apologize. The NFL fined the Broncos and McDaniels $50,000 each because the team's video operations director filmed a 49ers practice in London last month.

Broncos To Use Moreno More

Jul 4, 2014 1:54 AM

The Broncos plan to use running back Knowshon Moreno more beginning this weekend against the Rams. "We think (Moreno) has really come on in his development in pass protection. His ability to stay in the game in the passing game has been a big help for us the last so many weeks here," coach Josh McDaniels said. "He has done a good job with blitz pickup, and he has had his two best games in terms of running the football. "So we are just going to continue to play him and give him the football because we think that is an important part of our offense. The other guys are ready, we just feel like he is well deserving of the opportunity."

Broncos, McDaniels Fined $50K Each For Filming Practice

Oct 31, 2014 3:44 PM

The NFL fined the Broncos and coach Josh McDaniels $50,000 each because the team's video operations director broke league rules by filming a 49ers practice in London last month. The NFL investigation determined that Steve Scarnecchia took the six-minute video of the walkthrough and presented it that day to McDaniels. McDaniels declined to view it. The NFL fined both the coach and team because the matter was not promptly reported, as required by league policy. "I apologize for not promptly reporting the improper conduct of our video director before our game against the 49ers in London," McDaniels said in a statement. "The actions of this individual are in no way representative of the values and integrity held by myself, our players and coaches, and the entire Denver Broncos organization. "I understand the punishment from the National Football League and support its commitment to the integrity of the game. We have addressed the situation internally to assure that nothing like this happens again."

Broncos Under Investigation By NFL

Sep 11, 2014 7:14 PM

The Broncos have fallen under the microscope of the NFL for possible impermissible videotaping of an opponent, The Denver Post has reported. Broncos chief operating officer Joe Ellis confirmed to the newspaper Friday that the league was reviewing the team's possible filming of the 49ers from before their London game of Week 8. The team's video operations director, Steve Scarnecchia, is on a "personal leave of absence" while the NFL's investigation takes place.

McDaniels Isn't Ready To Turn To Tebow

Aug 23, 2014 2:27 AM

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels isn't ready to turn to rookie quarterback Tim Tebow. Denver is 3-7 and has the worst record in the AFC West heading into Week 12. They have lost 15 of 20 for the first time since 1971-72, but they aren't yet mathematically out of the playoff picture yet. "I don't know," McDaniels said of replacing starter Kyle Orton with Tebow. "I'm not willing to go there. That's not the case right now, so we will think about that when that happens. But it's not on our minds right now."

Lloyd Isn't Pushing For New Deal

Oct 16, 2014 3:18 AM

Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd is enjoying a very successful season, but he isn't pushing for a new contract just yet. Lloyd is making a little less than $1 million as Denver's No. 1 wide receiver. "It was generous and fair, the deal I have now from where I was," Lloyd said. "There's no part of me saying, 'I need to renegotiate now.' I'm going to play the rest of the year and we'll go from there." Lloyd leads the NFL with 968 yards receiving on 48 catches.

Tebow's Usage Will Increase

Jul 12, 2014 1:08 AM

Tim Tebow received more snaps on Sunday and will continue to see more playing time over the remainder of the season. "The package for Tim will continue to grow, and we'll expand it," said McDaniels. "We like what we've seen in him, a lot. We've had more than a few [passes] in for him in the past few weeks, and we just got a chance to use one today.'' Kyle Orton will remain the starter and play quarterback during the vast majority of Denver's plays.

McDaniels, Haley Have Words After Game

Jun 19, 2014 6:19 AM

After the Broncos defeated the Chiefs emphatically on Sunday, coaches Josh McDaniels and Todd Haley did not shake hands at midfield. "That's a private time between head coaches," Haley said after the game. "The main thing was I thought our team played hard up to the end." Haley said he saw some things on the Denver sideline as time ran out that he didn't appreciate. "They (Broncos) looked like a pretty well-oiled machine," Haley said. "They were playing at a high level, and we didn't duplicate that. The good thing is we get these guys again at our place in a few weeks. It's almost like a hockey series. We get a chance to go right back at them, and I'm sure our guys are excited about that." The problem may have been that the Broncos left in their starters and continued to pass the ball through their final play. Denver and Kansas City will play again in Week 13.
