Walker Expecting To Return Sooner Than Expected
Javon Walker, speaking to the media Monday for the first time since having surgery on his right knee Oct. 19, proclaimed he will be back on the field before the six-week window his surgeon projected after the procedure.
Walker attended the Broncos' game Monday night. The veteran wide receiver returned to town Saturday after having arthroscopic surgery.
"It will be sooner than six weeks," Walker said. "It will be much sooner than that. It feels much better now."
Favre Connects On 82-Yard TD Pass In OT For Packers' Win
It was another signature moment in a career that is full of them.
On the first play following the kickoff in overtime, Brett Favre connected on an 82-yard touchdown pass with Greg Jennings, and the Packers defeated the Broncos 19-13 on Monday night.
Denver's Henry Might Play Monday Night
Broncos running back Travis Henry was in uniform for Saturday's practice and said despite missing three days of practice he's hopeful he can still play against the Green Bay Packers Monday night in Invesco Field at Mile High.
Henry, who suffered a rib cartilage injury against the Steelers last weekend, did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday this week. He is still a rather large question mark unless a pain-killing injection he will take before the game gives him enough relief to play.
"Better than I did yesterday and the day before," Henry said. "Game-time decision, you know. Go in Monday early and do what I got to do. I plan to (play), I want to play. I've got to pass a couple tests they want me to pass before they clear me. I'll do all the shots and (the Broncos) have to test me out, see if I can take a lick."
Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Henry would go through the pre-game warm-ups before any decision was made about his availability.
Broncos Cutler On Favre: I'm Not Even Close To His Level
Broncos' quarterback Jay Cutler hears all the time how he's a clone of Brett Favre. Both have strong arms, a ton of confidence to fit a football into tight spaces, and short memories after interceptions.
Cutler says he's not even close to Favre's level, which he considers 1 of the all-time greats. Cutler and his team will host Favre and the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
Marshall: Arrest Was Terrible Mistake
Brandon Marshall is beginning to understand how predicaments keep finding him. The Broncos' receiver made a brief, but candid, statement to the media Wednesday regarding his arrest early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
"I know the seriousness of it," Marshall said. "A terrible mistake."
The day before Marshall's arrest, the Broncos had someone speak to the players about alternative transportation options in the event they were consuming alcohol outside their homes.
"Young kids make mistakes, and hopefully they learn from them," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said at his Wednesday news conference. "There's probably not a person in this room that couldn't have been arrested (at) some time for that. It doesn't make it right, but if something like that happens hopefully you learn by it, and you don't do it again."
Broncos' Smith Returns To Practice
Denver Broncos' wide receiver Rod Smith, the franchise leader in every major receiving category, returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since undergoing extensive hip surgery eight months ago.
"It's great to have him back," coach Mike Shanahan said. "Hopefully, there are no setbacks, and we will get a chance to see what he can do."
The 13-year veteran began the season on the physically unable to perform list, and at times during his rehabilitation, Smith publicly expressed some doubts about when, or even if, he would be able to come back and play in 2007.
By league rule, the Broncos now have a three-week window in which to evaluate Smith's progress and conditioning. By the end of the three weeks, the team must either move him to the active, 53-player roster or keep him on the PUP list for the rest of the season.
Broncos' Marshall Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI
Broncos' wide receiver Brandon Marshall was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Monday.
Marshall was pulled over in downtown Denver shortly after 2 A.M., police Lt. Ron Saunier said. His arrest came hours after the Broncos defeated the Steelers in Denver.
Marshall was issued a summons and was released.

Walker could be back sooner, but it's too early to tell, Shanahan said Walker's surgery in Houston.
Surgery Will Sideline Denver's Walker For 'A Few Weeks'
Broncos' wide receiver Javon Walker will undergo surgery on his right knee on Friday and will be out for "a few weeks," coach Mike Shanahan said Thursday.
Walker missed the Broncos' past two games because of swelling but practiced Monday and Wednesday.
"Javon's not feeling very good," Shanahan said. "He'll get operated on tomorrow in Houston, so he'll be out for a few weeks."
