Yesterday, cornerback Willie Middlebrooks signed a one-year contract with the team that drafted him in the first-round in 2001. "Willie would like to live up to his opportunity he had when he was first drafted to the club," said Middlebrooks' agent, Drew Rosenhaus. "This gives him another chance."

Lelie Absense Unofficialy Unexcused

Oct 7, 2014 1:10 PM

While it is not an official minicamp, the Denver Broncos expect every player with the exception of kickers, punter and NFL Europe participants to show up. Lelie was the only unexcused player absent from the workout that technically did not require an excuse. Not that this stopped Broncos coach Mike Shanahan from sending his missing player a message. "I just know it's hard to be the No. 1 wide receiver when you don't compete," Shanahan said.

Walker Wants To Wear 84

Oct 7, 2014 1:18 PM

Javon Walker has signed his big contract in Denver and now he wants his number 84. That number currently belongs to tight end Wesley Duke, an undrafted free agent last year out of Mercer. "I was told there was a young man in NFL Europe right now who was holding that number, so maybe sooner or later I'll try to give him a call and see if I can bribe him out of that number," Walker said.

Lelie's Worst Scenario Is The Most Likely

Oct 7, 2014 1:28 PM

If it looked like Ashley Lelie was on his way out before Saturday, it looks certain now. The Broncos acquired Javon Walker in a draft day trade and he knows there are three possibilities for him: be traded, show up for training camp in late July or hold out for the entire season. "Me coming back is definitely out of the question at this point with me being the No. 3 receiver," Lelie said Monday night from Arizona. "There's nothing to mend. There's no solution. ... Let me go somewhere where I can compete." "The odds are the worst scenario is the most likely scenario," Lelie said. "I think holding out is the best odds with me being traded next and then me coming back next. But I don't think I'm coming back. ... The situation has gotten worse. It's gotten a lot worse."
