Miami Enters Fray For Walker

Nov 14, 2014 11:00 AM

According to a league source, the Dolphins have joined the discussion with the Packers about acquiring Walker. The Broncos have considered acquiring Walker since last month, when coach Mike Shanahan made informal inquiries around the league, including to former Packers coach Mike Sherman, now on the coaching staff of the Houston Texans. Walker, who publicly has threatened to retire instead of again playing for the Packers, is under contract for the 2006 season. He is in Tallahassee, Fla., attending classes at Florida State University, where he also played for the Seminoles.

Denver Could Still Trade For Walker

May 17, 2014 1:30 AM

An NFL source said the Packers and Broncos recently discussed the availability of disgruntled Green Bay wide receiver Javon Walker. There is a chance Walker will be traded by this weekend's draft, and the Broncos are one of several teams that have expressed interest in Walker, who is recovering from a torn ACL. The Packers are believed to be asking for multiple draft picks for Walker. Denver and other interested teams, including Philadelphia and San Francisco, are expected to talk with Green Bay as the draft approaches. There is a chance Denver will try to involve wide receiver Ashley Lelie in a deal. Lelie wants to be traded, and his agents and the team are shopping him. Denver is expected to draft a receiver early, perhaps with its first pick at No. 15, where Ohio State's Santonio Holmes and Florida's Chad Jackson could be available.

Niners Add A First Round Pick From Denver

Sep 9, 2014 3:19 PM

The San Francisco 49ers added a second first-round pick in next week's NFL draft by trading their second- and third-round picks to Denver on Wednesday for the 22nd overall selection. The 49ers, who already have the No. 6 pick after last season's 4-12 finish, sent the 37th and 68th overall choices to the Broncos, giving San Francisco two first-round picks for the first time since 2000. The move also might be a prelude to a gambit to move up again in the draft. Two players coveted by the 49ers -- Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk and North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams -- are likely to be gone before San Francisco's first-round picks.

Lelie Could Be On Way Out Of Denver

Feb 17, 2014 6:00 AM

Ashley Lelie's absence from the Broncos' offseason program may be the beginning of the end in Denver for the wide receiver. Lelie, who is in the final year of his contract, would like to play where he has an opportunity to be a No. 1 receiver, according to two NFL sources. He doesn't think that is possible in Denver, where he has played since being the 19th pick in the 2002 draft. It appears likely that if he is not traded, this will be his final season here. Lelie's representatives are gauging interest for a trade. Players with only one year remaining on their deals rarely have high trade value, and the Broncos may prefer to keep Lelie rather than dispatch the playmaker for a low-round pick.

Three Teams Left Trying Trade For Walker

Oct 14, 2014 7:27 AM

The Eagles, the Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers are regarded in news reports as the leading suitors for disgruntled wide receiver Javon Walker, who has asked the Green Bay Packers to trade him. The Eagles quietly wouldn?t confirm or deny interest in Walker, who still isn?t all the way back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament sustained in the 2005 regular season opener. Kennard McGuire, the agent for Walker, could not be reached for comment.

MRI Shows Moderate Tear For White

Apr 12, 2014 4:21 PM

LenDale White received results from an MRI test done on his right hamstring which show a moderate tear near the pelvic region. According to a report in the Denver Post, the hamstring tear should sideline LenDale until mid-May which means he would not have the opportunity to run for NFL scouts prior to the April 29 draft. "He should recover fine," said Dr. Randall Eldridge, a Denver chiropractor renowned for his treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. "He just needs time to heal. I could see where he would have been in considerable pain had he tried to run."

White Says He's No Clarett

Oct 8, 2014 9:28 AM

LenDale White is defending himself against ugly claims and an even uglier comparison. The former Southern California star never thought his name would be mentioned with Maurice Clarett's as the NFL's April 29-30 draft approaches. Clarett, a flameout with the Broncos last year, was an infamous draft prospect, and White is hearing he's the next Clarett. "I am not Maurice Clarett," White said upon his return to Denver, where he will attempt to rehabilitate his injured hamstring and bruised image in the next couple of weeks. "I never violated team rules. I never robbed anyone," he said. "I just haven't run a 40-yard dash and I gained five pounds. That's all that has happened."

Lelie On His Way Out Of Denver?

Oct 1, 2014 9:24 PM

The player hotly rumored to be on his way out of town is Broncos receiver Ashley Lelie. His name has been mentioned in San Francisco and Green Bay. It's all just talk, of course. It's unclear if there is any connection between this talk and Lelie's decision to skip the first week of the Broncos' offseason workout program to work out on his own in Arizona. In any case, there is a good chance Lelie will leave Denver after this season as a free agent.
