Dak Prescott, Cowboys Expected To Have Prolonged Extension Talks

Sep 30, 2019 10:40 AM

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are not close to agreement on a contract extension at this time and a deal is not expected to be reached in the near future.

There is, however, motivation on both sides for a deal to eventually be reached.

There hasn't been a setback on the talks as they have not moved past the preliminary stages.

Prescott isn't considering moving off his demands, especially as he continues his strong start to 2019.

Dak Prescott, Cowboys Close To Extension

Sep 17, 2019 9:16 PM

The Dallas Cowboys are confident they are close to signing Dak Prescott to a contract extension.

“We’re already up there in rare air in terms of where the money is,” Stephen Jones said.

Jones was asked if he thinks Prescott will exceed Jared Goff's four-year, $134 million deal with the Los Angeles rams.

“I wouldn’t say it’s fair to say that,” Stephen Jones said. “Any time you get in that top-five area, you think a lot of somebody.”

It may not be “imminent” by Jerry Jones’ definition of “days,” but Prescott isn’t going anywhere.

“I know that they want to basically make this as thorough, I’ll use that word, or they don’t want to leave a stone unturned, and ‘they’ being, not Dak, his team, you must call it, which is his agents and the people that advise him,” Jerry Jones said Tuesday on his radio show on 105.3 The Fan. “No, it doesn’t surprise me [that it’s not done yet]. It doesn’t bother me a bit. I look at Dak long-term and this is a short-term thing. It obviously doesn’t affect him playing football not to have an extension. So, all of that is a good thing.”

Taco Charlton Wants Cowboys To Release Him

Sep 17, 2019 7:48 AM

After being inactive for the first two games, Taco Charlton has asked the Dallas Cowboys to release him.

The Cowboys have had trade discussions for Charlton, a first-round pick in 2017, but nothing that has gotten close, according to a source.

The defensive end is guaranteed his $1.376 million base salary this season and $458,000 of his base salary next season.

"We are not getting into that at all in any way," Jerry Jones said Sunday. "I know there is some discussion. We don't get into that."

Ezekiel Elliott Says He's Ready For Full Workload

Sep 12, 2019 9:08 AM

After carrying the ball just 13 times in Week 1, Ezekiel Elliott says he's ready for a full workload with the Dallas Cowboys.

Elliott missed all of summer training camp while holding out for a new contract.

"I think I'm ready now for a normal workload," he said. "Just depends on how (running backs coach Gary Brown) and (offensive coordinator) Kellen (Moore) and Coach (Jason) Garrett are feeling on Sunday. But if they ask me, I'll be able to go out there and do it."

The running back averaged 21.7 carries per game over his first three seasons.

Jerry Jones: Extension For Dak Prescott 'Imminent'

Sep 9, 2019 11:16 AM

The Dallas Cowboys opened the season with a 35-17 win over the New York Giants.

Dak Prescott began the season without a contract extension from the Cowboys.

"I'm turning the page and I'm worried about the Washington Redskins. I have people that handle that," Prescott said. "My focus is on this team. ... That's been out of my focus for the past week and I've told you guys that."

Jerry Jones was much more direct than Prescott, saying that a new deal for the quarterback is "imminent."

Dak Prescott Has Insurance, Endorsements Totaling More Than $50M

Sep 8, 2019 10:42 AM

Dak Prescott has has loss-of-value and disability insurance policies, as well as multiyear endorsement deals, that altogether are valued at more than $50 million.

Prescott is not in a rush to extend his current deal with the Dallas Cowboys due to that financial position.

Whether he gets tagged for more than $30 million, or his insurance or endorsement revenue comes into play, or Dallas lets him walk as a free agent and he gets a market-value deal from another team, Prescott figures to be in a unique situation.

Prescott makes more money in endorsements due to being quarterback of the Cowboys, which has led the team to want him to take a discount.
