Urban Meyer 'Absolutely' Would Take Cowboys' Head Coaching Job

Oct 21, 2019 3:16 PM

Urban Meyer revealed that the head coaching job of the Dallas Cowboys is one he would consider taking. Meyer was asked about the Cowboys in regards to speculation linking Lincoln Riley to the position.

"Pure speculation, because I know [Riley], but I don't know him like that, but that's the one [job]," Meyer said. "That's the New York Yankees, that's the Dallas Cowboys, that's the one. Great city, you got Dak Prescott, you got Zeke Elliott, you got a loaded team, and I can't speak for [Riley] obviously -- I hate to even speculate -- because I don't know him, that's really not fair, but to me, that's the one job in professional football that you kind of say, 'I gotta go do that.'"

Meyer was asked if he would take the job.

"Absolutely. Absolutely," Meyer said. "That one? Yes."

Meyer retired as head coach of Ohio State this year.

Jerry Jones 'Looking For Reasons' To Retain Jason Garrett

Oct 21, 2019 3:13 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have maintained the job of Jason Garrett hasn't been on the line this season and they would like to retain him long-term.

“I am looking for reasons. I’m looking for reasons to keep him,” Jerry Jones said. “It’s merited here. It’s hard to get an effective coach and get it locked in with all you have to do retool and redo. I’m comfortable. We have established some security apart from the won-loss. He represents the organization well on and off the field. You don’t have to wake up in the morning reading about it.”

Garrett replaced Wade Philips in 2010 after a 1-7 start.

Jones said last week that Garrett “would be a very sought after coach if he were out here in the open market.”

Brett Maher Becomes First Kicker To Make Three 60-Yard FGs

Oct 21, 2019 8:40 AM

Brett Maher made NFL history on Sunday night when he made a 63-yard field goal at the end of the first half of the Dallas Cowboys' win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Maher is the first kicker in league history to make three field goals of at least 60 yards.

"It's pretty cool," he said. "I didn't know [it was a record] until I got in here. That's definitely cool."

He made a 62-yarder against the Eagles last season at AT&T Stadium and a 62-yarder last week against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

Jerry Jones: Cowboys' Skid 'Not Just' On Jason Garrett

Oct 14, 2019 3:40 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have lost three straight games, but Jerry Jones isn't ready to pin all of the blame on Jason Garrett.

The Cowboys jumped out to a 3-0 mark with one of the NFL's highest scoring offenses.

"I'm going to be very trite. I was a lot happier with what he had done the first three games than what's happened the last three games," Jones said of Garrett. "But the big thing I want to say is it's not just him. This is across the board. That had a lot of input out there tonight to get in that spot."

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas last week, Jones dispelled the possibility of Garrett getting fired in-season after some oddsmakers made him the second favorite head coach to be fired, behind Atlanta's Dan Quinn.

"Don't bet any money [on] that happening," Jones said. "You'll lose it."

Jerry Jones Contends Jason Garrett 'Absolutely Not' On Hot Seat

Oct 7, 2019 3:16 PM

Jerry Jones contends that Jason Garrett is "absolutely not" on the hot seat as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

"He's done a great job with this team," Jones said. "As you saw yesterday, he had this team playing hard when on a lot of teams that game could've gotten real ugly when it was (31-3)."

The Cowboys started the season 3-0 but have since lost at the New Orleans Saints and then at home against the Green Bay Packers.

Garrett's power within the Cowboys has seemingly shrunk over the years.

Dak Prescott Has No Loss In Confidence After Loss To Saints

Oct 1, 2019 9:39 AM

The Dallas Cowboys suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints, but Dak Prescott hasn't lost any confidence.

The Cowboys' offense posted 257 yards and committed three turnovers.

"We've got a great team," Prescott said. "There's no confidence lost with this loss, I can promise you that. There's a lot of things we'll take from this that we'll learn from and become a better team because of it. That's the most important thing."
