Terrell Owens Doesn't Know Why Cowboys Haven't Fired Jason Garrett

May 18, 2018 5:37 PM

Terrell Owens didn't hold back while discussing Jason Garrett and the Dallas Cowboys in an interview with 105.3 The Fan.

Owens said he finds it "mind-boggling" that Garrett remains the team's head coach.

"At the end at the day, how can you keep allowing the players to be the scapegoat for what's not happening, especially when you have a head coach that's supposed to be offensive-minded? They're supposed to direct and lead the team to where it hasn't gotten in a number of years, and they've pretty much been in a standstill under coach Jason Garrett," the former wide receiver said.

Packers Not Expected To Sign Dez Bryant

May 15, 2018 4:57 PM

The Green Bay Packers are not expected to sign Dez Bryant, which contradicts a prediction from ESPN's Jason Witten that his former teammate would go there.

The Packers had some level of interest in Bryant when he was first release but they have signed drafted wide receiver J'Mon Moore in the fourth round, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the fifth round and wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown in the sixth round.

Bryant remains a free agent after receiving initial interest from a number of teams, including the Packers and Ravens.

Cowboys Expect Increased Production From Tavon Austin

May 11, 2018 8:30 AM

The Dallas Cowboys expect to use Tavon Austin in a variety of ways this coming season.

Stephen Jones expects Austin to have 12 to 24 touches on offense per game, which would be a very high number.

"I think we can get him the ball — I don't want to speak for Jason [Garrett], but I think we can get him the ball a dozen, twenty, two dozen times a game. And then you throw the return game on top of it and I think it's somebody we can really utilize," Jones said.

The most touches Austin ever had in a season in his five years with the Los Angeles Rams was 104, which is an average of 6.5 touches a game.

Cowboys Plan To Pay Dak Prescott What 'He Deserves'

May 11, 2018 8:36 AM

The Dallas Cowboys have Dak Prescott on an affordable contract, but plan to pay the quarterback what "he deserves" in due time.

"Yeah, you know at that position, it kind of is what it is," Stephen Jones said. "You kind of, when the time comes, [expect to pay him]. I know Dak is going to have a good year this year. I hope it's up there. It's going to be as he deserves. He was a fourth-round pick. No one deserves to get paid fairly more than he does."

The fourth-round pick signed a four-year contract in 2016 worth $2.7 million total. Prescott is eligible for a contract extension after the 2018 season.

Jerry Jones Expects Different Ezekiel Elliott In 2018

May 10, 2018 9:27 AM

Jerry Jones believes the Dallas Cowboys will have a different Ezekiel Elliott next season.

From training camp last summer to the halfway point of the 2017 regular season, Elliott dealt with the legal battles associated with his six-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

"I think that not having to address that mentally and physically, not having to think about not only the interruption of the potential suspension and the suspension but just the physical interruption, the physical aspect of that," Jones said.

"But from the standpoint of mentally, there is no question -- I'm 100 percent sure -- to not have that on your mind, to not have the ambiguity of not knowing timelines, those kinds of things, there's no doubt in my mind it will make a significant difference in how he can focus, how he can focus not only on the next practice but the next game and the entire season."

In 10 games, Elliott ran for 983 yards and seven touchdowns on 242 carries.

Tony Romo: Dez Bryant Won't Hurt The Locker Room

May 1, 2018 9:24 AM

Tony Romo doesn't think Dez Bryant would be an issue in the locker room for whatever team he joins.

The Dallas Cowboys cut Bryant on April 13. He reportedly turned down a multiyear deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

"There's a ton of teams he could help," Romo said after his U.S. Open qualifying round. "One thing, I don't know how many teams will do their homework on it, but Dez is a good teammate and I think sometimes that might get lost in the way that the emotional aspect of things. If I was talking to any of the GMs or coaches, I would tell them he's not going to hurt the locker room in any possible way. He's going to come out and he'll be a great teammate when he gets there. I think he'll have a couple options here soon."
