Apr 30, 2018 8:31 AM

The Dallas Cowboys offered the Seattle Seahawks a third-round pick for Earl Thomas, according to a report.

The report, from 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, claimed the Cowboys offered the No. 81 pick, but didn't hear back from the Seahawks in time and opted to draft Colorado State wide receiver Michael Gallup.

According to a separate report, the Cowboys remain interested in making a deal for Thomas.

Rams Trade Tavon Austin To Cowboys

Apr 29, 2018 1:37 PM

The Los Angeles Rams have traded Tavon Austin and one of their two second round picks to the Dallas Cowboys.

Austin was the eighth overall pick in the 2013 draft but had just 13 catches for 47 yards and no touchdowns in 2017. Austin made a bigger impact in the running game, with 59 carries for 270 yards and a touchdown.

On Friday, Jerry Jones hinted at adding another receiver after selecting Michael Gallup in the third round.

Jason Witten Likely To Retire To Become Monday Night Football Analyst

Apr 27, 2018 1:03 PM

Jason Witten is considering retirement to join ESPN as a color analyst for Monday Night Football.

Witten has a meeting set on Friday with Jerry Jones to inform him of his decision. It won't become final without Jones' blessing.

Despite having signed a new four-year contract and saying he planned to play beyond this season, Witten has been engaged in talks to become a game analyst with multiple networks, including ESPN, for several weeks, sources said.

"I know this: The burn is strong inside me to play at a high level and to be a part of one of these groups of guys and one of the leaders to see this thing through and go try to compete for a championship," Witten said after the Cowboys' season-ending win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 31.

"When I wake up tomorrow, that's where my focus will be on as I move forward. It hurts because you don't get a whole lot more opportunities at this and I realize that. But rest assured that I'm going to do everything in my power to help us be better as we move forward. And I think it needs to be clear that it starts with yourself."

Tony Romo similarly retired last offseason to become a color analyst with CBS.

Cowboys Rule Out Re-Signing Dez Bryant

Apr 24, 2018 4:31 PM

Jerry Jones has ruled out the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys re-signing Dez Bryant even at a reduced rate.

"We need to move on knowing that we don't have Dez," Jones said in a news conference Tuesday.

Bryant was released by the Cowboys on April 13th.

The Cowboys did not offer Bryant a pay cut and did not designate him a post-June 1 cut.

Bryant had been slated to make $12.5 million and count $16.5 million against the cap in 2018. The Cowboys saved $8.5 million against the cap by cutting him.

Jason Garrett: Releasing Dez Bryant A 'Challenging Situation'

Apr 18, 2018 11:11 AM

Jason Garrett says the Dallas Cowboys released Dez Bryant with careful consideration of a number of factors, from the wide receiver's production to his cost.

"Dez Bryant has been a great player for this franchise during his time here," Garrett said. "Certainly a playmaker, a difference-maker. A guy that we all love. Love him as a player, as a person and that will never change.

"It's a challenging situation. A lot of different factors go into these kinds of decisions and again the guidepost for all of this is: What's in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys? And that's why we made this decision. Wish Dez nothing but the best going forward. He's a special guy. I love him. I will always love him and the impact that he's made on this franchise has been significant."

Bryant went three straight seasons without 1,000 yards and was set to count $16.5 million against the cap in 2018.

Byron Jones Moving Back To Cornerback For Cowboys

Apr 17, 2018 8:51 AM

After spending two years at safety, Byron Jones says he's moving back to cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones flashed potential as a free safety in 2016, but regressed last season when forced to play closer to the line of scrimmage as a strong safety.

The Cowboys drafted Jones in the first round of the 2015 draft.

"I think it'll be a good move for me and the team," Jones said. "It's been something that as soon as [former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard] came in that's what he was talking about, he wanted to move me to corner. So we had a discussion and he made the move."

"The Giants," Bryant told Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan, "got a helluva defense, they're going to pay [Odell Beckham Jr.], so coming back. Playing with him, Sterling [Shepard] . . . the tight end [Evan Engram], [Eli] Manning? Crazy."

The Giants have only about $5 million in cap space remaining.
