Tony Romo is expecting to be released and not traded by the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, according to a source.
Romo believes he can start for two or three more seasons despite turning 37 and his injury history.
In a similar circumstance, Peyton Manning was released by the Indianapolis Colts in 2012 when he returned from multiple neck surgeries and the team drafted Andrew Luck.
In a video from December that was released on Friday, Myles Garrett asked Jerry Jones to trade up to select him in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The ESPN video, released Friday, was taken during a relaxed interview session at the College Football Awards show Dec. 8.
His answer was "100 percent supposed to be fun," the producer said.
"All right, I'm speaking to you, Jerry," Myles Garrett said. "Mr. Garrett, make it happen. Dak Prescott is leading our team right now. I need you to take Tony Romo, take a couple picks, give them to Cleveland so you can pick me up. Please. I would love to play in Dallas. Just make it happen."
In a separate video for KRIV-TV in Houston that was posted on Twitter on Thursday, Garrett said he would "definitely" like to play for the Browns.
"People might say, oh they're this, they're that, or I made a comment about cold weather and they kind of pointed toward Cleveland," Garrett said. "It doesn't matter to me. I'll play wherever they put me. It's about your mindset you go into it [with]. If you go in there with a mindset that you're going to turn things around, you can make that contagious and people start to believe in it, then you can turn it into a winning program wherever you go."
Garrett grew up in Arlington where the Cowboys play.
Dak Prescott beat out teammate Ezekiel Elliott to win the 2016 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
In balloting announced Saturday night, Prescott received 28½ votes from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league. The other 21½ went to Elliott, who rushed for a league-high 1,631 yards and scored 15 times. Prescott ranked third in passing behind the two Super Bowl quarterbacks, throwing for 23 TDs with four interceptions.
Prescott is the first Cowboy since Emmitt Smith in 1990 to earn the honor. Tony Dorsett, Duane Thomas and Calvin Hill also won it for Dallas.
