Dez Bryant Unlikely To Play Against 49ers

Sep 29, 2016 4:16 PM

Dez Bryant, who avoided having an MRI initially because he was fearful the results would reveal bad news about his right leg injury, is not expected to play Sunday, according to a source.

Jason Garrett confirmed Thursday that Bryant missed an MRI, a treatment session and two team meetings earlier this week.

The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver was diagnosed with a hairline fracture of his tibial plateau in his right leg near the knee, according to a source.

"He's a very, very passionate person. He loves football. He loves this team. He's a driven guy and his response to this was not the right one," Garrett said. "It was an understandable response given his personality and everything he puts into this.

"He's an emotional person and he didn't handle it the right way. What we have to do as a team is we have to handle it the right way. We understand where he was coming from and then we address it, we solve it, we move on. That's how we handle things here. And that's what we've done."

Alfred Morris Found Free Agency 'Very Insulting'

Sep 16, 2016 9:09 AM

Alfred Morris, who ended up signing with the Dallas Cowboys, found free agency to be "very insulting."

"The free-agency process was very insulting, to just say the least," Morris said. "I didn't like it one bit. I don't want to do it again."

Morris left the Washington Redskins to sign with a division rival.

"By the end of the year, I figured my time there was gone," said Morris, a sixth-round pick by then-coach Mike Shanahan in 2012. "You're not the coach's guy, you're not the GM's guy, they draft a young guy. It's a business, so I expected that. They just had a different plan and I wasn't a part of it and that was OK.

"I can't cry over spilled milk. I just had to go buy me another gallon."

Ezekiel Elliott: 'I Was Average' In NFL Debut

Sep 13, 2016 3:11 PM

Ezekiel Elliott doesn't think he was much of a factor for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 against the New York Giants.

"I think I was average [Sunday]. That's not why I was brought here to be average, so we've got a lot of work to get done," Elliott said.

He finished with 51 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. His longest carry went for eight yards, which means he gained just 43 yards on his other 19 carries.

Kenny Gregory Faces Longer Suspension

Sep 4, 2016 9:02 PM

Randy Gregory has not had his appeal heard regarding an additional suspension by the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy.

The NFL has not announced more than a four-game suspension for Gregory, and the league still considers his potential "4-plus-10" ‎suspension to be pending, according to the source.

When final roster cuts were made Saturday by NFL teams, there was a mention next to Gregory's name on the Cowboys' roster of a four-game suspension, but that was in reference to his violation announced in February, not the additional violation reported in July, which the NFL has not made any announcement about.

At the 2015 NFL scouting combine, Gregory tested positive for marijuana, which put him in the league's drug program. Considered a first-round prospect out of Nebraska, he fell to the second round, where the Cowboys selected him with the 60th overall pick.

Mark Sanchez To Sign With Cowboys

Sep 4, 2016 9:18 PM

Mark Sanchez will sign with the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal after being released by the Denver Broncos.

Sanchez's future in Denver looked bleak after Broncos coach Gary Kubiak named Trevor Siemian his starting quarterback and had rookie Paxton Lynch take all the snaps in the team's preseason finale against the Arizona Cardinals.

John Elway said he had "a long talk'' with Sanchez Saturday morning.

"I will tell you this ... he handled it with great class,'' Elway said. "I know he's disappointed, he wanted to stay here and, you know, we just thought with where we are, we thought it was best for us to different ways at this time. But Mark was great, and you know what? He handled everything great ... I thought he handled it great and it's just unfortunate he didn't win that job.''
