Cowboys Draft First QB Since 2009 In Dak Prescott

Apr 30, 2016 5:13 PM

The Dallas Cowboys took Mississippi State's Dak Prescott with the 135th overall pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft Saturday, two days after a failed bid to trade up for another first-round choice to select Paxton Lynch of Memphis.

"This means everything. It was just something I dreamed about," Prescott said. "I ran around the house acting like I was a Cowboys quarterback my whole life, so for it all to come true it's such a blessing. Just being here with my family, and Mr. Jones gave me that call, and just the excitement to have my family a majority of Cowboys fans, it was awesome."

With Tony Romo in the latter stages of his career, Prescott gives the Cowboys a quarterback with upside.

The Cowboys last selected a quarterback in the 2009 NFL Draft and only their third since 2001. Romo was undrafted in 2003.

Jaylon Smith Drafted No. 34 By Cowboys

Apr 30, 2016 1:31 PM

Jaylon Smith was selected by the Dallas Cowboys at No. 34 overall despite his torn ACL and LCL.

Smith was expected to be a top pick before his Jan. 1st injury.

"It's been the most challenging time of my life, but at the same time, it's the best time of my life, where my dream has just come true," said Smith, who is questionable to play in 2016. "I've been wanting to play in the NFL since I was 7 years old."

The delay in his return to the field is due to nerve damage, but the Cowboys are confident the nerve will refire.

Jerry Jones said the Cowboys targeted Smith with their second-round pick since the start of the week.

Cowboys Select Ezekiel Elliott No. 4

Apr 29, 2016 8:40 AM

The Dallas Cowboys selected Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick on Thursday night.

Just minutes before the selection, it was reported that Florida State cornerback Jalen Ramsey was the highest remaining player on the team's draft board. However, it appears as though Jerry Jones, who was said to be a big fan of Elliott's potential, won out.

Tony Romo Throwing Fully Without Restrictions

Apr 16, 2016 3:45 PM

Tony Romo has been able to throw fully without restriction as he makes progress from surgery on his collarbone.

Romo underwent "Mumford" surgery on March 8 to shave down the clavicle and help alleviate stress, thereby, hopefully, avoiding further breaks.

"I can throw fully," he said, via the team's official website. "I've been throwing fully here for a good week and a half, two weeks. It's been good."

Jerry Jones Compares Titans-Rams Trade To Herschel Walker Deal

Apr 15, 2016 6:41 PM

Jerry Jones compared the Tennessee Titans' trade of the first overall pick to the Los Angeles Rams to the Herschel Walker trade he made after buying the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys traded Walker to the Minnesota Vikings to rebuild their roster.

"I was surprised, but knowing the organization I'm not surprised," Jones said Thursday night, via ESPN.com. "They're really showing their colors. Step out there and go to Los Angeles, and then when you look at how they're setting their sails and it doesn't surprise me at all with what they're looking for in the future. It goes to show you certainly need to be thinking about your moves way in advance of the draft if you're going to go this early. I applaud them. It sounds like they got (what) they wanted.

"Then you've got to look at Tennessee and see all those draft picks. I didn't know Herschel Walker was still around."

Jones' Herschel Walker trade comment is the most interesting aspect of his take.

Adam Schefter Found Greg Hardy 'Changed Kind Of Guy'

Apr 5, 2016 7:07 PM

Adam Schefter discussed his interview with Greg Hardy.

In the interview, Hardy denied ever hitting a woman.

“I went in with the idea that this guy is a monster," said Schefter. "I came out of there with a very different feeling. I came out of there feeling this is a guy who has managed to say the wrong things at the wrong time. I found him to be a changed kind of guy. A guy that realized he did makes some mistakes, could have handled things differently. … I’ll say this, he wasn’t waivering. He was adamant.”

Hardy was found guilty of assaulting a female and communicating threats in a bench trial. Hardy appealed the decision, requesting a jury trial. Chargers were dropped when his former girlfriend failed to cooperate with the trial.

Greg Hardy Denies Ever Hitting A Woman

Apr 4, 2016 7:21 PM

Greg Hardy denies ever hitting a woman as he remains unsigned in free agency.

Hardy was discussing the 2014 incident involving former girlfriend Nicole Holder in Charlotte, North Carolina, when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers, and denied he had ever hit her.

"I've never put my hand on any woman," Hardy said.

"In my whole entire life, no sir," he said, adding that he was raised never to hit a woman and that violence against his siblings -- brother or sister -- wasn't tolerated.

Hardy was accused by Holder of throwing her against a bathroom wall, throwing her on a bed covered with assault rifles, choking her and threatening her life during an altercation at his apartment.

Schefter pointed out to Hardy that pictures of Holder following the incident showed her with multiple bruises all over her body.

"Pictures are pictures, and they can be made to look like whatever they want to," he said. "I didn't say I didn't do anything wrong. That situation occurred and that situation was handled, but as a man you can't avoid situations that aren't your fault or are your fault," he said.

He was convicted on charges of domestic violence in 2014 in a bench trial by judge. The case was then appealed to a jury trial and was thrown out when Holder stopped cooperating.
