Browns, Chargers, Cowboys Could Select QB At Top Of Draft

Jan 31, 2016 1:21 PM

With high picks in the draft, the Cleveland Browns, San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys could each consider investing in a quarterback.

"If you're looking for a quarterback in that top 10, (picks) two, three and four have got to be locked in," Mike Mayock said on Saturday during the NFL Network's broadcast of the Reese's Senior Bowl. "Two with Cleveland, three with San Diego. Philip Rivers is one of my favorites of all-time, but remember they took Rivers when they had (Drew) Brees. And No. 4, Dallas has got to be looking, also."

Carson Wentz, Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch are considered the top quarterbacks.

"I look at Dallas at No. 4 and as much you love Tony Romo, three years in a row he's not been able to play 16 games," Mayock said. "He's 36 years old. At what point -- you're not going to be drafting that high again -- at what point do you pull the trigger? San Diego, same thing. Cleveland's got to get a quarterback. Philadelphia's sitting there at (pick) No. 13 saying 'My guy might not get to me anymore.'"

Tony Romo To Undergo Collarbone Surgery

Jan 25, 2016 11:24 AM

Tony Romo plans on undergoing offseason surgery to plate his left collarbone in an attempt to prevent future injuries.

The Cowboys project a six- to eight-week recovery for Romo following his surgery.‎

Romo will have a CT scan on his collarbone in the next week.

Since 2010, Romo has broken the collarbone three times, including twice last season.

"I think we know which way we're siding and we've had exhaustive discussions about it," Romo said Saturday of the possibility of surgery. "Really it's just about being there for your teammates. If I play, I know what I mean to our team. I just need to do everything in my power to make sure I'm on the football field."

Tony Romo Believes He Has At Least Four Seasons Left

Jan 19, 2016 8:45 PM

Tony Romo believes he has at least four seasons left in the NFL despite the fact he'll turn 36 in April.

"I look forward to the bidding war for Romo (for post-career television work), because there is a 100 percent chance ... If I were him, I don't know whether I'd want to do games or studio," Simmons said. "I think I would want to do games."

"What are we talking about?" asked Cousin Sal. "He has four years left. He's going to win a Super Bowl. Don't worry about this."

"He said that," Simmons replied. "He said he has at least four."

Tony Romo Fine With Cowboys Drafting Quarterback

Jan 5, 2016 11:14 AM

The Dallas Cowboys own the fourth overall draft pick and Tony Romo would be comfortable with the franchise selecting a quarterback.

The Cowboys haven't drafted a quarterback since Stephen McGee in the fourth round of 2009.

Only four other quarterbacks have been drafted in the Jerry Jones era: Troy Aikman, Steve Walsh, Bill Musgrave and Quincy Carter.

"We're going to evaluate everybody and the organization is going to look at who to take and they're going to take the best player," Romo said per ESPN. "If the best player there is a quarterback, then that's what our team needs. Our team needs good players.

"I'm just obviously a player on the football team and I don't have to make those decisions, and I'm glad. My job's is go out and get better and make sure this team wins next year. And I'm going to do everything in my power to ensure that."

Sean Lee Made $2M Decision To Sit Out Week 17

Jan 4, 2016 10:54 AM

Sean Lee missed out on a $2 million salary escalator by sitting out Week 17.

Lee’s contract with the Dallas Cowboys calls for him to make $5 million if he played 80 percent of the team’s defensive snaps and was above that threshold before missing Week 17.

Lee said it was his call to sit.

“It was absolute — 100 percent a hamstring injury,” Lee said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I didn’t feel like I was going to be effective to help the football team. The problem was that it was so close to the game. If I had a couple of more days, then maybe I could have played. If today was the Super Bowl, then maybe you try the best you can to get out there, but I would have been running at about 75 percent. I hadn’t tested it at all since Thursday and you know that if it bites at all, it’s probably not going to warm up.”
