Cowboys To Use Franchise Tag On Dez Bryant By Monday's Deadline

Mar 1, 2015 10:47 AM

The Dallas Cowboys expect to use the franchise tag on Dez Bryant by Monday's deadline.

"I still think that it's probably, you know, would be a stretch to think that we would have something done by Monday and beat the franchise-tag deadline," Stephen Jones said. "Looks like we're eyeing a franchise tag on Dez, but certainly won't stop us from working hard to get a long-term deal."

The Cowboys were close to a "Cowboy-for-Life" deal with Bryant back in late October, but negotiations went back to square one as Bryant fired agent Eugene Parker in favor of Tom Condon, who the Cowboys front office met with this past week.

"Jerry Sr. and myself actually had a meeting with Tom Condon, his agent, Tuesday night." Jones said. "Had a good long visit."

Police Responded To Dez Bryant Incident At Walmart In 2011

Feb 26, 2015 7:49 PM

The alleged Dez Bryant video is believed to have occurred in 2011 and could leak in the near future.

A report filed by the Lancaster (Texas) Police Department described the response by an officer to "an unknown disturbance" in a Walmart parking lot during the early morning of July 11. Vehicles registered to Bryant were at the scene in the parking lot, and Bryant later arrived in another car, when he was spoken to by a Lancaster PD officer.

Upon further investigation, "it was determined that there was no offense" and "all parties were advised they were free to go."

Officials from the Dallas Cowboys have been aware of this incident for some time.

Dez Bryant Alleged Taped Incident Occurred In Wal-Mart Parking Lot

Feb 26, 2015 11:08 AM

The existence of a video involving Dez Bryant has been rumored privately for months and publicly in the media for a few days.

Mike Florio reports that the alleged incident happened in the parking lot of a Dallas-area Wal-Mart and the alleged video footage was created by a surveillance camera owned and operated by Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart has no obligation to share the contents of its surveillance videos publicly.

Adam Schefter of ESPN has been investigating the story since September.

Schefter Has Been Investigating Dez Bryant Video Since September

Feb 25, 2015 7:21 PM

Adam Schefter has revealed he's been working on reporting the alleged Dez Bryant video since September.

Schefter said he knows what is on the video.

The video is believed to contain footage of Bryant committing an assault.

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly concerned about giving Bryant a long-term contract because of the existence of the video.

Schefter believes the Cowboys will certainly keep Bryant for 2015 and also indicates there's a good chance DeMarco Murray will re-sign as well.

Rolando McClain Facing Four-Game Fine For Violating Drug Policy

Feb 21, 2015 7:06 PM

Rolando McClain is facing a four-game fine for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to multiple sources.

The fine could affect the type of contract McClain receives even if it will not keep him off the field to start the 2015 season.

The Cowboys acquired McClain in a trade from the Baltimore Ravens last July and saw him start 12 games and finish second on the team with 81 tackles.

Florio: Incriminating Video Of Dez Bryant Giving Cowboys Concerns

Feb 21, 2015 7:09 PM

An incriminating video of Dez Bryant reportedly exists and is part of the reason why the Dallas Cowboys are reluctant to commit long-term money to him this offseason.

“It’s one of the best-kept secrets in the media,’’ Mike Florio said. “A story that all of the major insiders know about, known about it for months, involving a video tape. … (and the) Cowboys are aware of it.’'

Florio was asked what impact the "awareness" has.

“Because of that and possible other reasons,’’ Florio reports, “the Cowboys been very reluctant to commit major money to him. I don’t know that (the video) does exist … it relates to off-field concerns … that’s just the chatter, that there’s video … and the Cowboys are afraid it will come out and have a Ray Rice-like type of an impact. … People think that’s what’s keeping the Cowboys from a long-term commitment.’'

Bryant responded on Twitter with the following statement:

"Just quit with the b.s... It's clear as day what's going on... I might need to a exclusive interview about my life these past 5 years since the world is destined to know.. I use to let people take advantage of my life. Now that I'm no longer allowing that to happen, it seems to be a problem... I'm not ashamed of none of my past incidents because that's what made me who I am today."

Cowboys Prefer Franchise Tag For Dez Bryant Than DeMarco Murray

Feb 17, 2015 11:52 PM

Stephen Jones indicated that the Dallas Cowboys are more interested in placing the franchise tag on Dez Bryant than DeMarco Murray.

"Right now all things being equal, it's leaning more Dez with the franchise than it is not," Jones said. "But that doesn't mean it will stay that way.

"We don't ever want to give up on a long-term deal," Jones said. "It's something we worked on all of last year and it kind of cooled off once we got into the season. We'll continue to see what our options are and things happen quickly as you go along. Things can go along with a lot not going on, but all of a sudden it happens."

Monte Kiffin Won't Return To Cowboys In 2015

Feb 10, 2015 1:20 PM

Monte Kiffin will not return to the Dallas Cowboys in 2015.

Kiffin last season served as the Cowboys' assistant head coach/defense -- a nebulous title under which he served mostly as an on-field consultant. In 2013, he was the defensive coordinator for a unit that ranked among the worst in franchise history.

A source said that Kiffin, who turns 75 later this month, would like to continue coaching in some capacity.
