DeMarco Murray: Let's See How Replacing Me Goes For Cowboys

Jan 29, 2015 8:24 PM

The Dallas Cowboys may be forced to replace DeMarco Murray in 2015 at running back, which he believes would be easier said than done.

"I would like to see how it goes," Murray said on NFL Network. "I would like to see how that plan would work for them. I don't pay attention to it. You know, I have full confidence in myself and my ability to do what I'm capable of doing. I know my talents, I know how hard I play and, you know, I know what I bring to the table. So I'm not worried about it and, you know, I don't hear it."

Murray ran for 1,845 yards in 2014.

Murray and Dez Bryant are both free agents and it will be difficult for the Cowboys to keep both.

Cowboys Admit Keeping Both Bryant, Murray Will Be Challenging

Jan 16, 2015 7:17 PM

The Dallas Cowboys would like to sign both Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray to long-term deals, but Jerry Jones acknowledged it will be difficult.

"It's going to be a challenge," Jones said. "Is it financially reasonable? No. Is it possible? Yes.

"But if you just looked at it from dollars and cents, it probably doesn't look reasonable. You have to figure out how you get there, but at the end of the day you realize it's going to be costly to have both of those players."

Bryant appears to be the higher priority.

If the Cowboys can't reach a long-term agreement with Bryant, Jones has said they will use the franchise tag on him, which will pay the receiver about $12.5 million in 2015.

Jones said he's not interested in restructuring a contract like quarterback Tony Romo's deal, which will count nearly $27 million for a luxury item.

Jason Garrett's New $6M Per Season Salary Up From $3.5M

Jan 14, 2015 2:09 PM

Jason Garrett will receive a big increase in pay as part of his new deal with the Dallas Cowboys worth $30 million over five seasons.

There had been reports that Garrett's previous contract was worth $5 million per season, but he was basically on the same contract since becoming the highest paid assistant coach at 2008, which was worth $3.5 million annually.

That was “head coach money,” for offensive coordinator duties.

Garrett’s $6 million-a-year average would put him inside the top-10 paid coaches in the league, reportedly tied with Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin, Kansas City’s Andy Reid and Green Bay’s Mike McCarthy.

Jason Garrett, Cowboys Close To Five-Year Deal

Jan 14, 2015 1:46 PM

Jason Garrett and the Dallas Cowboys are on the verge of agreement on a new five-year contract.

A team source told ESPN's Ed Werder of the deal: "It's not done, but close."

Garrett took over as the Cowboys' interim coach in the middle of the 2010 season. He went 5-3 after a 1-7 start to the year brought an end to the Wade Phillips era.

The Cowboys finished 8-8 in each of Garrett's first three years as the full-time coach before breaking through to the playoffs this season.

Aaron Rodgers Has Slight Tear In Calf Muscle

Jan 9, 2015 11:32 AM

Aaron Rodgers has a slight tear in his calf muscle in addition to a significant strain.

The injury is not expected to prevent Rodgers from playing in Sunday's divisional playoff against the Dallas Cowboys, but it could impact how mobile and effective he is.

"There's no question he will play, but there's also no question he will not be 100 percent," said one doctor familiar with the injury. "The question is whether he'll be 95 percent or 50 percent."

The Packers are aggressively treating the injury, with the hope he can be as well as possible.
