Morris Claiborne Out For Season With Torn Patellar Tendon

Sep 30, 2014 9:47 PM

Morris Claiborne's season has ended because he tore a patellar tendon in his left knee.

Claiborne suffered the noncontact injury on a third-and-3 play with 5:52 left in the first quarter. He did not return to the game, and owner and general manager Jerry Jones said initial fears were a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Claiborne walked out of the Dallas Cowboys' practice facility last week when informed that he'd lost his starting job to Orlando Scandrick.

Morris Claiborne Skips Workout After Demotion

Oct 21, 2014 5:05 PM

Morris Claiborne skipped the Dallas Cowboys' Tuesday walk-through and left the training facility after he was informed that Orlando Scandrick would replace him in the starting lineup.

The Cowboys could fine Claiborne for the incident.

Claiborne's demotion came a few hours after Jerry Jones said on his weekly radio show that the third-year cornerback had not been worth the sixth pick of the 2012 draft, which Dallas moved up to acquire.

"Is he what we had hoped for at this point when we drafted him with the sixth overall pick, giving up the [second-round] pick to go up to the sixth pick to get him? No," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. "But he's going to be a good player."

On Sunday, Claiborne allowed five receptions for 108 yards and a 51-yard touchdown pass. He also clinched the victory for the Cowboys with an interception.

Jerry Jones Insists NFL Team In England Will 'Get Done'

Oct 15, 2014 2:21 AM

The Dallas Cowboys will play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London at Wembley Stadium on Nov. 9 and Jerry Jones said the NFL will soon have a team based in England.

“I think it is going to get done because I see increasing interest and I see the ability to get the fans,” Jones said. “There is incremental value to increasing the pie there.” Shepherd’s pie, no doubt.

“You can expect a more intense feeling if and when we have a team over there,” he said. “We are basically trying to gain fans in the U.K., but at the same time we should be aware that should the U.K. have a team, there is an automatic, ‘Let’s beat the hell out of New York this week, let’s tear Dallas a new one’ — that kind of thing. And so that breeds competition. You guys invented it with the soccer rivalries that go on there.”

Romo 'All For' Taking Lesser Role With Cowboys Running More

Sep 29, 2014 1:40 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have been more of a running team during the first two weeks of the 2014 season, which results in Tony Romo having a lesser role.

Romo underwent back surgery in the offseason.

"That's what a really good team is; everyone is complementary of each other," Romo said. "I'm all for going out and having games like we just had and playing the way Seattle has the last few years and just having those style of games. It makes everyone's job easier. If we continue to do that I think we'll have a great chance to be where we want to be at the end of the year."

Jerry Jones' Attorney Calls Sexual Assault Suit Extortion

Sep 21, 2014 7:10 PM

According to the complaint, Jana Weckerly is seeking more than $1 million in damages from Jerry Jones due to an alleged sexual assault.

She claims Jones grabbed her breasts, forced her to touch his penis and watch another woman perform oral sex on Jones.

Criminal charges were never brought against Jones.

"These allegations are completely false," Jones' attorney Levi McCathern said in a statement. "The legal complaint is unsupported by facts or evidence of any kind. This is nothing more than an attempt to embarrass and extort Jerry Jones. This is a shakedown by a lawyer who is a solo practitioner just trying to make a name for himself. The alleged incidents would have been more than five years old.

"We intend to vigorously contest this complaint and expect it will be shown for what it is -- a money grab. Due to the seriousness of these baseless allegations, we have also involved law enforcement."

Jones: Didn't Notice 49ers Fan Base At Stadium

Sep 12, 2014 12:45 AM

A significant percentage of the 91,174 fans who filled AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon wore red and cheered for the 49ers, but Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones claimed not to notice the home-field disadvantage.

"Listen, I'm interested in the football game and what went on with the game," Jones said after the Cowboys' 28-17 loss to the 49ers. "It's not good when you don't win -- from any perspective, marketing or otherwise. I had my eye on those turnovers and interest on those turnovers. I'm not even sure I know what you are talking about, to tell you the truth. OK?"
