Dez Bryant, Cowboys Could Agree Upon Extension Before Season

Nov 25, 2014 3:28 PM

Dez Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys could agree upon an extension before or during the 2014 season.

"We’re certainly taking a long look at that,” Stephen Jones said on 1310 The Ticket [KTCK-AM]. “As we do with any great player in our organization who’s nearing the end of a contract, we start to look at it and see how we might structure something going forward. I think that’s a possibility, yes.”

Bryant, 25, is coming off his first Pro Bowl season, catching 93 passes for 1,233 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Sean Lee Tears ACL In Left Knee

Aug 6, 2014 7:44 PM

Sean Lee has been told that he has a torn ACL in his left knee and is expected to miss the entire Dallas Cowboys' season.

Lee tore his right ACL in April 2008 while at Penn State, then partially tore his left ACL during the 2009 season.

"Sean has had to deal with injuries throughout college and also here in the NFL," Jason Garrett said earlier Tuesday. "He really does everything he can to get himself ready to play. Unfortunately, he had to deal with a few of those things, but he's as mentally tough as an individual I've ever been around. Whatever the circumstances are, he always puts his best foot forward and strives to be his best. I don't anticipate this being any different."

Lee appeared to be slipping while being blocked by Zack Martin on a screen pass.

"I don't really know what happened," said Martin, the Cowboys' first-round pick. "Two guys playing hard, running to the ball. We'll see what happens. ... Hope for the best. He's obviously a great player, leader of the defense."

Lee missed five games last season with hamstring and neck injuries. He was cleared from the neck injury at the start of the offseason program in April.

The Dallas Cowboys are hopeful that Kyle Orton will report to mandatory minicamp in June.

Orton appears to prefer to retire at the age of 31 and doesn't want to play for any other team.

The Cowboys will force Orton to pay back $3 million of his $5 million signing bonus if he does retire.

Dallas views Orton as a top backup quarterback.

Tony Romo Confident He'll Hold Up During Final Five Years Of Contract

Aug 29, 2014 5:02 AM

Tony Romo believes he has many years remaining in his career and that he will hold up during the duration of his six-year, $108 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

"There's no question in my mind, not only am I going to be able to make it through 16 games, I'll make it through another five years," Romo said during his appearance Wednesday on the "Ben and Skin Show."

"Some people have issues just based on their body alignment and degenerative things, but none of those are my issues. Mine is just something small and I just got hit at the wrong time and that's part of what happened. If you play football lo

“Football is a violent game, so I go in each and every day and try to be as violent as I can,” Lawrence said Wednesday after an NFL PLAY 60 event at Pantego Christian Academy, “because when I look at the bigger picture, the next man is always going to try to be better than you. I go in every day ready to work and try to get better.”

Cowboys Never Seriously Entertained Drafting Johnny Manziel

Jul 2, 2014 5:00 AM

Jerry Jones was surprised that Johnny Manziel was still available at No. 16, but the Dallas Cowboys never seriously entertained the thought of selecting him.

Jones was more surprised that Manziel's availability didn't produce trade offers for the pick.

"(Tony) Romo, by contract as well as by commitment, is going to be certainly the quarterback for several years to come," Jones said. "Don’t care who we drafted, that's the way it was going to be. So that's what was going through our minds. That's why we didn't spend a lot of time considering Manziel."

The Cowboys drafted Zack Martin with the pick.
