Cowboys Could Cut DeMarcus Ware After Years Of Cap Mismanagement

Sep 13, 2014 12:24 PM

Jerry Jones acknowledged the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys losing DeMarcus Ware before the 2014 season.

"There's no question when you are where we are on the cap, even though we've had some new cap space added, and you have a defensive player that's your highest-paid defensive player, and he hasn't been on the field much the last two years, that has to be considered," Jones told ESPN on Monday, per The Dallas Morning News. "You can't have it all."

The Cowboys are projected as being nearly $21 million over the cap and cutting Ware would save $7.4 million.

Ware missed three games last season and produced just six sacks.

The Cowboys have mismanaged the cap for years and losing Ware would be a direct result.

Jerry Jones Strongly In Favor Of NFL Team In London

Oct 11, 2014 9:12 PM

The Dallas Cowboys will play in London this season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“I think that’s very possible, yes, and I’m very much for it,” said Jones about the NFL expanding to London.

“We’ve got a lot of really great Dallas Cowboys fans in London,” Jones said. “These games will be a good indication of the type of support that we could have there but London is one of the few cities, I think, outside of the United States that would be a great city internationally for the NFL.”

Sean Lee Blames Struggles Of Cowboys' Defense On Players, Not Coaches

Oct 11, 2014 5:57 PM

Sean Lee believes the Dallas Cowboys' defense will be improved in 2014 by continuing the 4-3 defense.

The Cowboys shifted from the 3-4 to 4-3 last season.

"I think it'll be a similar base," Lee said, per ESPN.com. "Both coaches (Marinelli and Kiffin) are fantastic coaches. I think the issue is the players finding a way to play better within the scheme, being more consistent, being perfect with our technique and playing with consistency. Those are things we didn't do at all last year."

Lee believes the struggles were due to the players and no the coaches.

"I think that the 4-3, 3-4, there are a lot of similarities really," Lee said. "Obviously we didn't make the transition well, but that was on us working more, becoming better, learning quicker and executing it better. I think that's on the players."
