DeMarco Murray Likely To Return This Week

Oct 13, 2014 4:09 AM

DeMarco Murray will likely play for the first time since spraining his left foot on Oct. 14.

The Cowboys play the Eagles in Dallas.

“We’ll see how he responds today,” Jerry Jones said on KRLD-FM (105.3). “But the key day was yesterday. He came back from the day before, which was his first day out. Usually that is a leveling-off or setback day if you have the effects of your first day back.

“He didn’t have that. He practiced well. We’ll see how he does these next couple of days. But it looks like we’ll have him.”

Dez Bryant Wants To Earn Trust Of Romo

Aug 1, 2014 3:47 AM

Dez Bryant has 23 catches for 377 yards and four touchdowns over the past three games.

Bryant believes his job is to earn the trust of Tony Romo.

“I feel like I earned a lot of trust,” Bryant said Thursday. “I’ve just got to continue to keep doing it. I want it all. I want him to trust me on everything: ‘Hey, I know I can trust my guy. If he says he’s going to be there, if I want him there, he’s going to be there.’ That’s the kind of guy I want to be to Romo.”

Claiborne Hopes To Be Tested Following Poor Performance Against Eagles

Sep 5, 2014 7:53 AM

Dallas Cowboys' rookie cornerback Morris Claiborne was called for five penalties and gave up a touchdown pass in Sunday's win against the Eagles.

With the poor performance, Claiborne realizes he might be picked on by opponents.

“The next week I know guys are going to come out (and say), ‘Just throw it up there. Either we’re going to catch it or get a penalty,’” Claiborne said. “That’s why I’ve got to play smart and go out and attack the football.”

Cowboys To Be Careful With DeMarco Murray

Aug 1, 2014 3:40 AM

DeMarco Murray has missed the past four games for the Dallas Cowboys, and Jason Garrett will continue to remain cautious with his running back.

Murray sprained his foot on Oct. 14.

“There are a lot of different thresholds he has to get over,” Garrett said. “We keep asking him to take those tests, but he’s certainly making progress and we’ll see how he does. He was on the field last week (for one day) moving around, so we’ll just see how he is over the next couple of days and hopefully he can do something on Wednesday.”

Garrett has said that Murray would have to practice before returning to the field.

DeMarco Murray To Miss Fourth Straight Week

Nov 17, 2014 7:05 AM

The Dallas Cowboys will be without DeMarco Murray for the fourth consecutive week as he deals with a foot injury.

“No question he’s starting to get better,” executive vice president Stephen Jones said. “We’ll see.

“The position he plays and the stress he puts on that injury, he’s got to be 100 percent before we can put him out there. But obviously, he’s starting to make a lot of progress.”

Jerry Jones Will Never Relinquish GM Duties

Oct 31, 2014 1:34 PM

Jerry Jones was clear in comments that he will never sell the Dallas Cowboys and will never step down as general manager.

"We are not structured that way," Jones told KRLD-FM on Tuesday morning. "We didn't structure it that way with my ownership. There's no way that I would be involved here and not be the final decision-maker on something as important as players, and that is a key area. That's never been anybody's misunderstanding. It's been a debated thing, but it's just not going to happen."

Jones has won three Super Bowls since purchasing the Cowboys, but have a 123-124 record since 1997.

"We've had success doing it this way and we're going to have success in the future doing it this way," Jones said. "It eliminates some very serious issues when you look around the league, as to creating an additional layer that you're continually having decisions, making changes and doing those kinds of things."

Jones also cleared up a comment he made during an interview on NBC in which he said he would fire himself as GM given the Cowboys' record the last few years.

"It's real clear," Jones said. "I was asked the question, 'If you were an owner and you had a general manager, would you make a change?' Under those circumstances, I speculated that I would probably have made a change, but that's not our situation.

"To change, I'd have to change myself. People don't do that. If you've got the commitment and you have the investment, and I'm talking about in time, effort, all of those kinds of things, you change yourself. You don't change out and have someone else go in there and do it."

Romo 'Pushing' Garrett To Call Plays Similar To Rally Against Giants

Dec 14, 2014 11:32 PM

Tony Romo was encouraged by the play-calling from Jason Garrett during the Dallas Cowboys' comeback against the Giants last week.

The Cowboys scored 24 straight points after falling being 23-0.

“We really did a lot of things that I liked,” Romo said Wednesday on a conference call with media members in Atlanta. “I’m pushing coach to kind of get the offense more in that mode a little bit, which is nice. But styles make fights sometimes so we’ll look at different opponents and see different things.”
