Cowboys More Optimistic On Return Of Murray

Jun 27, 2014 2:53 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have expressed optimism that DeMarco Murray is closer to returning from his sprained foot.

The Cowboys may give Murray one extra week of rest.

"We’ll just have to see," Jason Garrett said Monday afternoon. "It seems like he’s moving around a little bit better. Again, that’s an injury you have to be patient with. We don’t want to rush him back then take any backward steps. We’ll see how he is day-by-day this week."

Giants Beat Cowboys 29-24 (+3.0 TC, -10 TRC)

Jun 27, 2014 2:32 PM

The New York Giants scored 23 straight points to begin the game, followed by 24 from the Dallas Cowboys over the second and third quarter. But it was two fourth quarter field goals from Lawrence Tynes that was the difference to give the Giants a 29-24 victory.

The Giants had a +3.0 edge in The Trench Counter, fully capitalizing on the six turnovers committed by the Cowboys to compensate for their relative inability to sustain drives (3-for-15 on third down). The Cowboys had a +10 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Eli Manning went 15-for-29 for 192 yards and an interception, while Ahmad Bradshaw rushed 22 times for 78 yards.

Tony Romo threw for 437 yards on 36-for-62 passing and a touchdown, but had four interceptions.

The Cowboys also couldn't manufacture any type of running game, with Felix Jones gaining just 19 yards on 13 carries.

“We’ll learn from that particular play, but he has a tremendous competitive spirit,” coach Jason Garrett said. “Anybody who watches football and knows anything about it – or even if you don’t know anything about it – and you watch that guy play, you see his passion for the game and his competitive spirit.

DeMarco Murray Doesn't Have Lisfranc Injury, Could Be Ligament Damage

Sep 29, 2014 8:43 PM

The Dallas Cowboys believe DeMarco Murray may have suffered ligament damage in his foot but not a season-ending Lisfranc injury, according to sources.

Murray is undergoing an MRI on Monday.

Murray fractured his ankle last season.

After the game, Murray said he wanted to return, and he was not in a walking boot.

If Murray misses an extended period of time, the Cowboys would have Felix Jones takeover in the featured back role.
