Albert Breer of The NFL Network is reporting, citing a source, that the Jets are out of the running to sign free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. However, that doesn't mean New York won't re-enter the race going forward. A number of other reports have come out since Breer's confirming that the Jets are out on Asomugha.

The Jets have restructured the contracts of linebacker Bart Scott, running back LaDainian Tomlinson, linebacker Calvin Pace, guard Brandon Moore as well as quarterback Mark Brunell. The moves could set the stage for the team to sign free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. Asomugha is expected to choose between the Jets and Cowboys in the near future.

NFL Insider Michael Lombardi is reporting that free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will sign with either the Jets or Cowboys. New York has been consistently linked to Asomugha, while Dallas is making a late push to sign the cornerback. The Cowboys would have to release cornerback Terence Newman in order to fit Asomugha under their salary cap, Lombardi reports. Asomugha is expected to make a decision by the end of Friday.

Former Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams wants to sign with the Bears, according to a source. Williams would be reunited with Mike Martz in Chicago. It had been reported that an agreement between the two sides was reached, but as a released player Williams and the Bears can't begin talks until Friday afternoon. Martz coached Williams in Detroit and now serves as Chicago's offensive coordinator.
