Bears Sign Barber To Two-Year Deal
The Bears have signed former Cowboys running back Marion Barber to a two-year contract.
Cowboys Also Out On Asomugha
Shortly after it was reported and confirmed that the Jets are no longer pursuing free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets that the Cowboys are out of the race as well.
Jets Out Of Asomugha Race
Albert Breer of The NFL Network is reporting, citing a source, that the Jets are out of the running to sign free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
However, that doesn't mean New York won't re-enter the race going forward.
A number of other reports have come out since Breer's confirming that the Jets are out on Asomugha.
Jets Restructure Contracts To Prepare For Possible Asomugha Signing
The Jets have restructured the contracts of linebacker Bart Scott, running back LaDainian Tomlinson, linebacker Calvin Pace, guard Brandon Moore as well as quarterback Mark Brunell.
The moves could set the stage for the team to sign free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
Asomugha is expected to choose between the Jets and Cowboys in the near future.
Asomugha Will Choose Between Jets, Cowboys
NFL Insider Michael Lombardi is reporting that free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will sign with either the Jets or Cowboys.
New York has been consistently linked to Asomugha, while Dallas is making a late push to sign the cornerback.
The Cowboys would have to release cornerback Terence Newman in order to fit Asomugha under their salary cap, Lombardi reports.
Asomugha is expected to make a decision by the end of Friday.
Roy Williams Wants To Sign With Bears
Former Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams wants to sign with the Bears, according to a source.
Williams would be reunited with Mike Martz in Chicago.
It had been reported that an agreement between the two sides was reached, but as a released player Williams and the Bears can't begin talks until Friday afternoon.
Martz coached Williams in Detroit and now serves as Chicago's offensive coordinator.
Redskins Give Bowen To Five-Year Deal
The Redskins have taken Stephen Bowen from the Cowboys, agreeing to a five-year deal with the defensive end.
ESPN Insider Adam Schefter is reporting that the deal is worth $27.5 million.
Bowen was projected to be the starting defensive end for the Cowboys this season, but decided to test the open market after becoming an unrestricted free agent.
Cowboys Keep Free With Four-Year Deal
The Cowboys and left tackle Doug Free have agreed to a four-year deal worth $32 million, including $17 million guaranteed, according to multiple sources.
Free will not be able to practice until Aug. 4 when the league year starts, but he will be allowed to attend meetings in San Antonio.

The Cowboys will cut ties with wide receiver Roy Williams, according to sources.
Dallas owner and general manager Jerry Jones met with some players Tuesday morning and told them not to bother reporting to training camp in San Antonio because they will be cut.
Marion Barber, Pro Bowl guard Leonard Davis and kicker Kris Brown also will not be returning to the Cowboys, according to sources.
