Romo Dismisses Rumors Of Extension

Oct 9, 2014 11:40 PM

With quarterback Tony Romo off to a hot start, contract talks are bound to heat up with the Cowboys. But according to Romo, they are not there yet. Romo, who is in the final year of his contract, also shot down a report on an NFL- related Web site. Citing sources, profootballtalk.com said Romo's agent, Tom Condon, is asking for more than $30 million in guaranteed money on a possible contract extension. "That's not true," Romo said of the supposed offer by Condon. "I don't know where that came from. But I will take it, though."

Year Later, Owens Says He's Grown Since Accidental Overdose

Oct 9, 2014 11:43 PM

A year after his accidental overdose, Terrell Owens wishes he could erase one of the worst moments of his life. He said he was embarrassed by the incident but has grown from it. "That's not something I really want to be remembered for," Owens said. "The thing is, people can take things the wrong way and misinterpret the situation. I go from accidental overdose to suicide attempt. That's two totally different things. People who know me, my family, know I love me. It was an unfortunate situation."

The game was also the top-rated television broadcast since May's "American Idol" finale.

Cowboys Make A Big Statement In Windy City

Oct 9, 2014 11:43 PM

Tony Romo looked desperate early on, scrambling, rushing throws and doing all he could to avoid the Chicago Bears' defense. The only thing he didn't do was go away. Romo passed for 329 yards after a rough start, Anthony Henry had two interceptions for the second straight week and the Cowboys made a big statement, beating the Bears 34-10 on Sunday night. The Cowboys showed just how serious a contender they are in the NFC during the second half, outscoring the Bears 31-7. Dallas is 3-0 for the first time since 1999.

T.O. Fined For Camera Celebration

Jun 22, 2014 1:35 AM

Terrell Owens said Wednesday he was fined "a good chunk of money" ? which he later defined as thousands of dollars ? for a celebration that included him using the goal post and football to poke fun at the New England Patriots' spying scandal during Dallas' 37-20 victory over Miami this past Sunday. A league spokesman said the fine was $7,500. "It wasn't even the fact I used the goal post as a prop," Owens said. "They said I used the ball."

Tank Reaches Deal With Dallas

Nov 24, 2014 8:32 PM

Defensive lineman Tank Johnson, who cannot play until midseason because of an eight-game NFL suspension, reached a two-year agreement with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not available. The agreement was reached 10 minutes before a deadline imposed by the Cowboys. The former Chicago Bear visited team officials Monday night and hoped to have a deal in place by Tuesday afternoon. Although it is unclear what he can do between now and when he is reinstated by the league, the former Chicago Bear at least has a future employer. "For a lot of reasons, he really just felt the Cowboys were the right fit," Johnson's agent, Jerrold Colton, told The Associated Press. "He's so thankful to them for giving him this opportunity. He is very determined to prove they made a wise decision in believing in him."

Report: Tank Johnson To Take Physical With Cowboys

Aug 7, 2014 12:20 AM

The Cowboys are apparently ready to take a chance on Tank Johnson. The troubled defensive tackle is due to take a physical with the team Tuesday, according to a report in the Dallas Morning News. The Cowboys are in need of a defensive tackle after 10-year veteran Jason Ferguson suffered a torn biceps in the first half of their season-opening win over the Giants. He is out for the season. Johnson currently is serving an eight-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy. He eligible to return on November 3.

Romo Talking Extension With Dallas

Jul 1, 2014 12:44 PM

Tony Romo, in the last year of his contract, isn't worried about getting a long-term deal. The Cowboys are in talks with Romo's representatives. "I'm saying you never know," Romo said. "Honestly, at the end of the day, you never know. You never know how the rest of the season is going to go. Do I think I'm going to play well and the team is going to do great? Sure I do. But you never know. If the Joneses don't want you or the organization isn't 100 percent behind you, then that's the way this game is."

T.O. Pokes Fun At Belichick, Patriots

Oct 29, 2014 1:12 AM

Leave it to Terrell Owens to publicly poke at the NFL's touchiest subject. Wade Phillips wasn't happy about the penalty flag that followed, but T.O.'s touchdown celebration was a cinematic classic. Two thumbs up for timing, creativity and comedic value after he pretended to take a video camera out of the goal post and faux filmed for a few seconds. The popcorn flying from Cowboys fans in the stands was a fitting touch, too. The celebration, of course, was a not-so-subtle shot at the Spygate controversy that unfolded this week with the Patriots. T.O. delivered the knockout punch on commissioner Roger Goodell and the non-suspended New England coach now known as "Bill Belicheat" during his postgame press conference. "I hope they don't give me a hefty fine like they gave Belichick," T.O. deadpanned.
