Cowboys' Glenn Expects To Return This Season

Sep 25, 2014 10:01 PM

Terry Glenn, the Cowboys' receiver who is recovering from two knee surgeries, was at the team's facility Thursday doing weight training while the team practiced. Glenn said he expects to return at some point this season but doesn't know when. "His spirits are good," coach Wade Phillips said. "He's rehabbing his quad; they are building that up. Once you have a knee operation, you need the quad to go down, so they're building that up." It could take one or two weeks for Glenn to get enough strength in the quad before he starts running. Glenn said after his first surgery ? to remove a cyst in August ? he came back too fast. The second surgery Sept. 13 was to clean up loose cartilage.

Romo Has $30 Million Insurance Policy

Oct 31, 2014 6:18 AM

Circumstances in Dallas have changed so dramatically that Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has gone from being his team?s insurance policy to having a $30 million one. Before the season, without anyone noticing, Romo took out a $30 million, ?loss-of-value? insurance policy, meaning the Cowboys quarterback, now in the last year of his contract, will be cashing in whether he?s healthy or hurt. What?s different and notable about Romo?s loss-of-value policy -- unlike the permanent-disability insurance policies numerous athletes have taken out over the years -- is that he doesn?t have to suffer a career-ending injury to get paid. Romo?s loss-of-value policy spells out that the quarterback would be eligible to be paid if an injury contributed to a downturn in his performance that affected his value on the open market.

Springs, 50, has been unconscious since soon after he entered Dallas Medical City Hospital last week for what friends say he believed was a routine medical procedure to remove a cyst from one of his arms. It remains unclear how or why Springs lapsed into a coma. The hospital has refused comment, and family members have been unavailable.
